Salary Range: Service Employee Annual Salary Salary based on experience and education level per Putnam County Board of Education salary schedule plus a competitive benefits package to include: PEIA insurance, retirement, life insurance, and free vision and dental insurance.
Job Description: The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher 1st Grade/Aide supports the instructional program by performing tasks assigned by the regular classroom teacher.
Qualifications: Holds a high school diploma or GED.
Holds “Aide” classification.
Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
Holds valid CPR and first aid cards.
To qualify for the Early Childhood Assistant Teacher
classification, the successful candidate must agree to complete
a Temporary or Permanent Authorization endorsed for Early
Childhood Assistant Teacher.**
**Successful applicants must agree to complete the Third Grade Success Act requirements for providing additional support personnel in first through third grade classrooms:
Any current ECCAT who wishes to serve in Grade 1 – 3 classrooms, will need to complete additional in-person or online training in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within two calendar years of moving to a grade 1 – 3 classroom (Two Courses). Upon successful completion of the coursework current ECCATS will receive an endorsement to serve in PK – Grade 3 classrooms.
Newly hired ECCATs will complete the current ECCAT coursework in conjunction with additional coursework/training in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within three calendar years of the hiring date (Four Courses). Their licensure will reflect a PK –Grade 3 endorsement.
Paraprofessionals
Any current paraprofessional who wishes to serve in a Grade 1 – 3 classrooms, will need to complete additional in-person or online training in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within two calendar years of moving to a grade 1 – 3 classrooms (Two Courses). Upon completion of the coursework current paraprofessionals will receive an endorsement to serve in PK – Grade 3 classrooms.

Responsibilities: The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher or Kinergarten e aide shall have the responsibilities and duties as outlined in the Putnam County Schools Job Description.
