    TITLE:  Learning Development Assistant (Paraprofessional)              REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Assigned Teacher 

    QUALIFICATIONS

     
    1. Criminal history check and fingerprinting as required by the school district.
    2. High school diploma or equivalency.
    3. Experience in a school setting and direct experience with students.
    4. Knowledge of various computer programs.
    5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

    I.    Personal Qualities:
    1.  Presents a positive attitude through appearance, personal habits and punctuality.
    2.  Communicates and works cooperatively with other members of the staff and with the public.  
    II.   General:
    1. Prepares classroom activities under supervision of a certified teacher.
    2. Supports the teacher in creating Personalized Learning experiences that make the subject matter meaningful and engaging for students.   
    3. Assists in using developmentally and age-appropriate strategies, equipment, materials, and technology as directed by the teacher.
    4. Uses a variety of instructional strategies as modeled by the teacher.
    5. Locates and maintains a variety of instructional resources as directed by the teacher.
    6. Assists the teacher with maintaining student records required by the district.
    7. Respects the privacy of students, student rights, and confidentiality of information.
    8. Develops a positive rapport with students.
    9. Engages in professional improvement activities.
    10. Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of the Wilder School District.
    11. Performs other tasks as assigned by the building principal.
    III. Timeliness:
    1. Turns in time sheets to the building principal each month.
    2. Returns requested information by the date and time specified.
    3. Attends all meetings as required, arrives promptly, and remains throughout the meeting.
    4. Arrives on time and works scheduled hours.
    5. Notifies the building principal in the event of illness or other reason for absence.
     
    Physical Requirements: In a day, employee may stand/walk 6-8 hours, sit 1-2 hours.  Employee may use hands for repetitive single grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.  Employee may need to bend and twist frequently; squat, climb and reach above shoulders occasionally.  Employee may need to lift approximately 20 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 10-20 pounds.
     
    Employment Period:  May be employed for up to 190 days per year.
     
    Terms of Employment:  The Wilder Board of Trustees determines wage and benefits.
     
    This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will”.  Neither the employment nor any other descriptions as to positions, duty, or assignment shall create a property right in the employment and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as the employment continues.
     
    The employee/employment is at all times subject to the rules, regulations, and policies of the district as have been promulgated by the Wilder Board of Trustees and each employee is held responsible for having knowledge of such rules, regulations, and policies.
