TITLE: Lifeguard
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Community Education Director & Aquatics Coordinator
CLASS SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility as a lifeguard is to prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring. Candidates must be able to ensure the safety of patrons by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supervising swimmers.
Spotting hazards and preventing accidents.
Giving advice on water safety.
Controlling unruly behavior.
Water rescue.
First aid including CPR
Collecting fees from participants as needed
Manage supplies, materials and equipment
Perform other duties as assigned

Current Lifeguard certification
Currently certified or the ability to obtain CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constantly required to move and interact with students in and outside a swimming pool including standing, walking, sitting, stooping bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and reaching with hands and arms. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, lift, use hands for fingering, grasping and feeling, wrists, hands and/or fingers for repetitive motions or computer use. The employee must frequently lift, move and/or carry up to 30 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to and over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

TITLE: Water Safety Instructor
Stress proper techniques and maintain a safe environment for each level of swim lesson. Experience working with children and/or adults in small groups. Work with youth in a group setting and on an individual basis to teach specific skills. Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons.
Provide swim instruction to students of all ages and abilities in a positive, fun, learning environment.
Stress proper techniques and maintain a safe environment for each level of swim lesson.
Be a positive role model for respectful behavior and problem-solving strategies
Work with youth in a group setting and on an individual basis to teach specific skills.
Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons.
Prepare lesson plans to correlate with participant level and level being taught.
Fill out progress reports properly prior to the last day of lessons including positive/encouraging comments.
Maintain an organized pool environment.
Maintain and complete logs and records.
Follow established emergency procedures and respond appropriately in an emergency situation.
Attend all required aquatics staff in-service training and meetings.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned
Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
Experience in a swim program or knowledge in the instruction of swimming at all aquatics ability levels
Knowledge of stroke mechanics and ability to correct participant strokes

Title: Kids’ Company Associate
REPORTS TO: Community Education Kids’ Company Coordinator
Actively engaging with children during all program hours.

Title: Building Nurse
REPORTS TO: District Nurse
CLASS SUMMARY: The Building Nurse is responsible for providing and implementing direct and indirect healthcare to students, through the nursing process, in an educational setting.
Assesses student health care status and needs and administers appropriate nursing care procedures utilizing applicable protocols, procedures, and care plans; manages and administers medications for students.
Develops and implements the health care component for IEP students.
Collaborates with school officials and community resources to improve services to students.
Develops and maintains applicable health records, ensuring the confidentiality of information; prepares and disseminates health concern listings of students to be shared with staff as appropriate.
Develops Individualized Health Plans (IHPs) for students with known health conditions that require interventions during the school day.
Develops emergency care plans for students with known health conditions.
Manages and implements school screening programs.
Surveys, reports, and assists in the prevention and control of communicable diseases in accordance with District policies.
Provides classroom instruction related to health and wellness under the supervision of a licensed school nurse.

Title: Health Services Assistant
CLASS SUMMARY: The Health Services Assistant assists with students’ daily routine health care, medications, treatments, episodic and first aid care and assists in managing the school’s Health Services Office, under the supervision of the District/Building Nurse. Collects and maintains health information on electronic health records while maintaining data privacy and confidentiality.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Assist LSN or RN in providing more individualized and potentially complex medical cares to student(s), dependent upon training
Triage, screen, evaluate, and administer First Aid to injured students and staff
Support student(s) medical needs in classrooms settings and field trips
Assist in managing the school’s Health Services Office
Maintain confidentiality in all areas related to students
Collaborate with parents, staff, and LSN or RN as needed to ensure student safety and continuity of care
Administer medications according to district policy and procedures as delegated by the LSN or RN
Dispense medication and assist in providing treatment as prescribed or delegated by the LSN or RN. This may include diabetic cares, head lice checks, oral or nasal suctioning, tube feeding, checking blood pressure, catheterization, auscultation, and otoscopic exams (training will be required and provided)
Follow Emergency Care Plans and Individualized Student Care Plans written by LSN
Accurately complete/maintain a variety of records, including services to students with IEPs
Report students with repeated symptoms/problems/incidents of communicable disease to supervisor
Assist in obtaining required verification of immunizations
