    ANTICIPATED MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN 7AM-3PM

     

    REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities/Maintenance Coordinator

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    1. Ability to operate maintenance equipment. Depending upon maintenance staff needs, emphasis will be placed on abilities in the areas of electricity, carpentry, plumbing and various mechanical systems.

    2. Ability to use good judgment in all school contacts and communications.

    3. Black seal license, High School equivalent training

    4. Possess a valid motor vehicle license

    5. Have a good driving record

    6. Experience in plant operation and maintenance; cleaning methods and procedures; repairs; security; heating and ventilation with in depth knowledge of at least one specialized area of expertise as enumerated under the performance responsibilities

    7. Demonstrated knowledge of fire/safety laws and proper handling of hazardous materials

    8. Relevant N.J. trade licenses/certificates

    9. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residents alien status

     

    JOB GOAL:

     

    To maintain all buildings, systems and machinery in good working condition and to keep all school grounds in a neat, clean and safe condition

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Any duties or responsibilities

     

    Electrical

     
    1. Performs repairs and adjustments to electrical systems as required.

    2. Repairs light fixtures, including ballasts and sockets. Light switches and duplex outlets.

    3. Repairs electrical failures, such as overloads and equipment breakdowns.

    4. Runs new electrical services from existing power sources for modification of, or additions to, existing school rooms. Uses conduit, BX cable, or wire molding as required.

    5. Repairs or replaces any of all electrical components of the buildings or building equipment as required.

    6. Conducts periodic inspections and test of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.

     

    Mechanical

     
    1. Maintains and repairs all buildings and building equipment. This includes all doors, windows, and minor roof repairs, heating and ventilating units, refrigeration units, including drinking fountains. All boiler room components such as oil burners, circulating water pumps and air compressor.

    2. Fabricates and installs various metal parts, using various methods of assembling such as oxygen acetylene welding, electric welding or conventional drilling and bolting.

    3. Repairs such mechanical components as panic bolts, door locks, door closers, ventilators, radiators, motor vents, draw curtain hardware, desk drawers and locks, file cabinet drawers and locks.

    4. Assist in repair of motor vehicle equipment when required.

    5. Assist in repair of maintenance and grounds equipment when required.

     

    Carpentry

     
    1. Performs various carpentry tasks such as repairing wood floors, bleachers, furniture, benches, etc.

    2. Fabricates platforms, partitions, room dividers, bulletin boards, cabinets, shelves and other items of furniture as required.

     

    Plumbing

     
    1. Performs minor repairs as assigned.

     

    Painting

     
    1. Prepares surfaces for painting by caulking, cutting out cracks, patching and masking.

    2. Performs brush, roller or spray painting.

     

    Other Maintenance Services

     
    1. Performs various maintenance services on public address systems, fire alarm systems and vandal alarm systems. 

    2. Fabricates and installs forms and pours concrete for patching or new construction installations.

    3. Performs various construction efforts in keeping with the availability of time, materials and equipment.

    4. Assists with snow removal when required

    5. Performs other related work functions as assigned by the Supervisor of Building and Grounds.

    6. Ensures that all fire/safety and environment laws and regulations relating to the plant maintenance and operations are enforced.

    7. Maintains preventative maintenance logs and other records as required.

    8. Performs related duties as required for daily operation of the school.

    9. Demonstrates knowledge of the operations of all district facilities.

    10. Participates as a team member for the overall operations of the district.

    11. Responsible for participating in building checks when the district is closed as needed. 

    12. Utilizes technology in an effective and efficient manner

    13. Keeps technologically current.

    14. Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.

    15. Installs and repairs playground equipment.

    16. Maintains fields and prepares for seasons. 

    17. Installs, repairs and replaces all signs on school grounds. Maintains blacktop and repairs potholes in driveways and macadam sidewalks. Install and repair fencing.

    18. Mixes and pours concrete for the purpose of installing stanchions and fence posts or similar installations.

    19. Operates tractors and bucket loaders, snow blowers, all grass cutting and snow removal equipment, and makes minor repairs to the same. Performs maintenance on all motor vehicle equipment. This Maintenance entails tire changing, washing of equipment, gassing of equipment and checking of all operational controls such as lights, horn, brakes, steering and directional signals. 

    20. Performs various transportation functions, such as the interschool movement of furniture, risers, choral and musical equipment and instruments, plus the pickup of cafeteria commodities in addition to various ground supplies.

    21. Performs other duties as may be prescribed by law or assigned by supervisor, including assisting custodial staff to:

       
      1. Perform year-round schedule on care of all school grounds, including athletic fields, parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks. Spreads topsoil, raking, seeding, watering, spreading lime and fertilizer.

      2. Mow grass using a tractor and small power mower, trim bushes and trees throughout the school district.

      3. Maintain fields and prepare for seasons. 

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

     

    Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
