    Schedule:
    Morning and Afternoon: 0.34 FTE
     Hours:  Mon through Thurs 7:05 to 8:25 AM and 2:50 to 4:10 PM
                  Fri 7:05 to 8:25 AM, 11:50 AM to 12:40 PM, and 2:50 to 3:40 PM

    Salary:  $18.06 hourly
      

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
    The Crossing Guard directs the actions of travelers and facilitates the safe flow of traffic at assigned crosswalks to ensure the safe crossing of pedestrians. 
     
    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: 
    Reports to the School Safety Officer/Risk Manager

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Directs the actions of pedestrians and riders at an assigned crosswalk in order to ensure safe crossing
    • Escorts travelers across the street and parking lots
    • Coordinates crossing guard duty with carpool flow via radio communication with principals and staff
    • Uses and maintains school-issued equipment (vest and STOP sign)
     
    MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Issues verbal warnings, reports misconduct, and requests assistance from appropriate personnel as required
    • Monitors student(s) behavior, ensuring their compliance to TCA rules, policies, and regulations
    • Maintains communication with the School Safety Officer/Risk Manager , building principal, and/or ASD20 security officers regarding incidents that occur at the assigned location that could potentially impact the safety of pedestrians
    • Directs visitors to school and the security check-in process
    • Performs other duties as required
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    EDUCATION:
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
     
    EXPERIENCE:
    • Required to complete crossing guard training provided by ASD20 Transportation  
    • Required to attend and complete CPR and First Aid training class (provided by TCA)
     
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    • Ability to provide a warm and caring attitude toward students

    Contacts are generally giving or receiving information
     
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    • Work is performed outdoors
    • May experience exposure to all types of weather conditions
    • Required to work normal school hours and before/after school
    • Must wear non-skid boots or shoes in icy weather
     
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.  They

    • Typical demands require the employee to:
      • Spend equivalent amount of time standing and walking while performing job duties
      • Work with arms extended at shoulder height with a weight up to five pounds
      • Distinguish depth and objects in a wide field of vision

    BENEFITS: 0.1 to 0.49 FTE:
    The Classical Academy offers competitive pay and a robust total compensation package including:
    -PERA: Administered by Colorado PERA, this is a tax deferred retirement account to which you contribute 10% of your monthly earnings.  TCA contributes 20.9% to the PERA pension trust fund on your behalf. 
    -TIME OFF COMPENSATION: A 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employee is provided with Staff Leave. For positions less than 1.0 FTE, your leave time will be prorated accordingly based on FTE. Our leave program is fully compliant with the Colorado Healthy Families Workplace Act.

    Conditions of Employment:
