MAINTENANCE TRADESMAN: HVAC TECHNICIAN LOCATION: Maintenance Department
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months Full time, hours as assigned
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: As per Current Support Salary Schedule
PURPOSE To maintain the operation of the physical plants and HVAC equipment of the District for the benefit of students, staff and patrons.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND MENTAL ABILITY - Ability to interpret technical specifications
- Ability to program and operate computer controlled heating/cooling systems
- Ability for on-site troubleshooting of electronic, electrical and pneumatic systems
- Ability to handle, measure and mix chemicals for water treatment
- Knowledge of the electrical code for HVAC systems
- Knowledge and use of power and hand tools
- Knowledge of specialty tools and equipment
- Advanced Math skills
- Demonstrates ability to work with and maintain positive relationships with others
JOB REQUIREMENT High School Diploma or equivalent
HVAC Trade School Certification
Maintain Air Conditions Licenses
Driver’s License – Qualify for District Insurance
Demonstrated skills and experience in general construction and maintenance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Troubleshoot and repair District HVAC Systems
- Maintain HVAC computer programs
- Perform preventive maintenance on physical plant and equipment
- Respond to snow removal and emergency call out
- Perform and respond to after hour emergency/vandalism calls
OTHER FUNCTIONS - Assist maintenance personnel as assigned by Supervisor
- Assist in handling of heavy objects
- Aid in snow removal
- Operate power tools, equipment and vehicles
- Basic welding as required
- Maintain shop area
- Practice energy conservation
- Participate in District staff development programs
- Perform duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS Exposure to heat, cold and humidity
Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards and hazardous locations
Exposure to toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and odors
Ability to work from ladders and tight places
Physical ability to handle heavy objects
Requires strenuous physical exertion and mobility
EVALUATIONS An annual evaluation will be conducted prior to April 15 by the Supervisor and placed on file with the Human Resources Office. Additional evaluations may be given at the prerogative of the Supervisor
