    Salary: $50,667.00-$62,129.00 (or per the 2025-2026 Salary Schedule)

    JOB DESCRIPTION
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
    2. Certified by the State of Florida in the appropriate areas.
    3. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience or related work experience.
    4. Satisfactory criminal background check.                 
     
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Knowledge of School Board policies and practices as they relate to job function.  Knowledge of and ability to use computer technology.  Skill in the human interaction and conflict resolution.  Ability to read and interpret applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures.  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Ability to plan, organize and prioritize activities related to assignment.  Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.  Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision.  Ability to handle multiple tasks in a  professional and courteous manner.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, general public and governmental agencies.  Ability to tolerate highly stressful situations.

    Principal

    JOB GOAL
    To assist the principal in providing for proper supervision and discipline of students to create and maintain a safe environment conducive to learning.
     
    SUPERVISES:

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
    Instructional Program Leadership/Development
    1.             Assist the principal in developing and maintaining the school’s philosophy of discipline.
    2.             Work with staff, students and parents to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
    3.             Assist in the coordination, implementation and supervision of co-curricular activities.
    4.             Make recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting student life in school.

    Personnel Action Services
    1.             Provide guidance to and instruction for teachers in the implementation of discipline policies and school safety.
    2.     Assist in monitoring and assisting substitute teachers.
    3.     Provide training opportunities and feedback to personnel as appropriate.
    4.     Develop and administer duty rosters for certificated and non-certificated staff as assigned.
    School Operations/Delivery Systems
    1.             Assist in coordinating emergency drills and related reports.
    2. Assist in supervision of school transportation services.
    3. Assist in developing and implementing the school’s Crisis Intervention Plan.
    4. Assist the principal in the daily operation of the school.
    5. Assist in developing, updating and distributing handbooks, activity calendars and related materials.
    6. Assist in supervising and monitoring the accurate and timely completion of data collection and reporting requirements required by the district and state.
    7. Assist in identifying maintenance or facility needs.
     
    Student Support Services
    1. Resolve discipline problems in a fair and just manner and maintain appropriate discipline records.
    2. Assist with monitoring student attendance and coordinating absentee records and reporting.
    3. Counsel individual students and make appropriate referrals for testing, guidance or psychological services.
    4. Confer with parents, teachers, counselors, student support personnel and students on matters of discipline and student welfare.
    5. Complete investigative and due process procedures in a timely manner.
    6. Investigate and recommend students for suspension or expulsion in coordination with the principal.
    7. Supervise student activities, including athletic events, as assigned.
    8. Assist in arranging and participating in parent-teacher conferences.
     
    Technology
    1. Use appropriate technology in instructional delivery.
    2. Provide students with opportunities to use technology to gather and share information in a safe environment.
    3. Facilitate student access to the use of electronic resources
    4. Explore and evaluate new technologies and their impact on the educational learning environment.
    5. Use technology to review student assessment, discipline, and attendance data.
    6. Use technology for administrative tasks.

    2. Model and maintain high ethical standards of professional conduct and adhere at all times to the Professional Code of Ethics..

    4. Maintain high visibility on campus and at student/school activities and functions.
    5. Keep the principal informed about potential problems, unusual events or possible opportunities for school improvement.
    6. Support goals and priorities of the District and school.
     
    Staff Development
    1. Assist others in acquiring knowledge and understanding of particular areas of responsibility.
    2. Engage in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills in an ongoing and consistent manner.
    3. Develop and implement an Individual Professional Development Plan and Needs Assessment in accordance with state and district requirements.
    4. Participate in District sponsored staff development programs.
    5. Manage within an organizational context a personal professional development program by setting specific goals and timetables
    6. Participate in school data collection of teacher input on principal’s performance assessment program.
     
    Professional Responsibilities
    1. Assist in developing and administering procedures for dealing with campus control and security.
    2. Maintain liaison with city, county, state, juvenile and legal authorities as required.
    3. Access District and community resources to meet school needs.
    4. Anticipate problems and difficult situations and plan appropriately to handle them.
    5. Serve on school, district and community committees as appropriate or assigned.
    6. Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishment.
    7. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
    8. Demonstrate punctuality, regular attendance, and carrying out assigned duties.
    9. Shall assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
     

    Student Growth and Achievement
    1. Ensure that student growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or student program classification.  Indicators may include: results from state and local criterion and norm referenced standardized tests, portfolio assessment, analysis reports, and others as deemed appropriate by the District and/or required by adopted curriculum standards.
    2. Establish and maintain a positive collaborative relationship with the students’ families to increase student achievement.
     
     
    *Essential Performance Responsibilities
     
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  
    Medium Work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force regularly to move objects.
     
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
    Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
     
    EVALUATION:                               
    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.  

     Applicant must hold appropriate certification or show evidence of appropriate certification eligibility for this position.
