Position Title: HS/MS Night Lead Worker-Class III
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
FTE: 1.0 (hourly, 40 hours per week)

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities and the District Facilities Coordinator, the Lead Custodian ensures a clean, safe, well-maintained, and functional learning environment for students, staff, and faculty during evening and overnight shifts. In addition to performing custodial duties, this role provides leadership and guidance to the night custodial team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to district standards. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, sanitization, maintenance, event setup and teardown, securing the building, assisting with troubleshooting minor facility issues, and keeping track of the facilities schedule to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, refills paper goods and soap dispensers.
Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs floors in various areas.
Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, glass, countertops, and furniture.
Empties waste baskets and recycling bins.
Participates in summer deep-cleaning projects.
Oversees and supports the night custodial staff, ensuring tasks are completed correctly and efficiently.
Adheres to safe maintenance practices and safety requirements.
Building Safety, Security, and Support
Secure the building, ensuring doors are locked and alarms set.
Conduct safety inspections and assist with snow and ice removal.
Assist with receiving and distributing deliveries.
Move desks, furniture, and equipment as needed.
Identify and address safety and security issues.
Monitor building conditions and report maintenance concerns to the District Facilities Coordinator.
Keep track of the facilities schedule, coordinating cleaning, maintenance, and event setups accordingly.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Prior custodial experience required; leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
Valid MN Driver’s License or equivalent mobility required.
Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently.
Comfortable working at heights up to 35 feet and in confined spaces.
Strong organizational and leadership skills to guide the night custodial team effectively.
Capable of frequent bending,squatting,reaching,walking and standing.
Ability to perform tasks involving repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and finger.
Working Conditions
Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and biohazards; adherence to safety protocols required.
Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts required as needed.
This role is essential in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the district’s facilities during non-daytime hours. The Lead Custodian ensures smooth operations while supporting the custodial team to maintain high standards.
Education, Experience & Skills Requirements: - Degree:

- Specialist's Boilers License or beyond
- Experience:
- Prior experience in custodial or maintenance work.
- Skills:
- Basic understanding and ability to use computers and technology; ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance.
Salary and Benefits: - Salary:
- Hourly Range: $21.81 - $29.00
- Hourly placement is based on experience, as per district guidelines.
