Position Overview:    
1.            Experience with coaching Volleyball;

A Successful Candidate:
1.            Will work with the Head Coach to establish and lead a successful Volleyball Program that includes the development of self-discipline, character, teamwork, leadership, world-class citizenship, responsibility, academic excellence and character formation;
2.            Serves as an example of exceptional professional conduct and be mindful of their representation of South Spencer High School;
3.            Encourages student participation and manage the successful day-to-day operations of the Volleyball Program;
4.            Work with Head Coach to run try-outs to build a successful program;
5.            Practices occur after school or before school and coach must be on time for each practice and performance;
6.            Follows and support the South Spencer Handbook;
7.            Supports the mission of South Spencer High School
8.            Attends athletic, all-school, IHSAA and City Coaching meetings, events and professional development, as directed by the South Spencer High School Athletic Administration.
 
Salary:  There is a stipend included with this position.  This position does not come with a teaching position within South Spencer High School.

Reports to: Athletic Director and High School Principal

Job Description:
• Ability to build personal and professional relationships with administration, teachers, coaches, student-athletes, parents, and community members.
• Prepares for and coordinates practices and events, maintains and inventories equipment, encourages player development at all levels, and makes recommendations to the Athletic Director.
• Accept and implement the co-curricular philosophy of South Spencer High School.
• Follows the rules and regulations of the school, the Pocket Athletic Conference, and the IHSAA.
• View the rules interpretation meeting held by the IHSAA.
• Maintain a membership in the appropriate coaches association and participate so that our school has representation.
• Attend clinics, seminars, and in-service programs in order to improve coaching skills and to stay current with new trends in coaching, training, conditioning, and safety procedures.
• Attend school, conference, and sectional coaches meetings.
• Give input about and then carry out the interscholastic schedule as drawn up by the Athletic Director.
• Organize, schedule, and supervise practice sessions.
• Submit and verify transportation requests for scrimmages, practices, and events.
• Supervise the use of equipment in your sport.
• Regularly inspect equipment and facilities to ensure the safety of each student athlete.
• Responsible for reporting scores and disseminating team information for publicity.
• Participate in pre and post season meetings with the Athletic Director. The post-season meeting will serve as an evaluation conference.
• Delegate responsibility to the assistant coaches as appropriate.
• Work to develop continuity between the community and school programs, including building a strong youth and middle school program.
• Maintains appropriate supervision of the program at all times (locker rooms, practices, events, bus rides, etc.). Supervises any and all space used by athletes while they are present.
• Maintains proper field maintenance in order to ensure practices and games can be held. Work alongside the Maintenance Dept. and Athletic Director to ensure the field is maintained properly and regularly, including in the offseason.
• Assures that the program at all times will reflect proper attitude and conduct at home or away.
• Encourages young people to participate in sports and other co-curricular athletics other than their own but does not attempt to influence the specific sport or activity.
• Establish and use a system of communication to athletes and parents that will include explanation of program policies, awards, procedures, goals, and schedules.
• Represent the school in a professional manner in demeanor, language, and conduct (based on standards established by the Athletic Director).
• All other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Position Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Principal, Director of Facilities, and Business Manager, performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary.

Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.

Essential Functions:
• Checks and secures building at beginning and end of shift for the purpose of ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the building.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas of building according to school district standards.
• Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips, and waxes floors.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Removes graffiti, cleans glass areas.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms, and functional rooms.
• Clears snow from entrances and walks, and spreads sand and ice melting chemicals.
• Performs grounds-keeping duties, clears debris and maintains grounds.
• Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
• Delivers supplies and materials to classrooms, bathrooms and other areas of the building.
• Empties wastebaskets; picks up and removes trash and assists in recycling program.
Additional Duties:              
• Performs general cleaning, and repair work, particularly during school vacations.
• Assists parents and other visitors to school buildings with special events and programs.

Equipment
