Position Title: Substitute Athletic Fields Groundskeeper Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED.
- Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test, etc.)
- A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
- Complies with drug free workplace rules and board policies.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Goal: The purpose of this position is to perform grounds keeping duties as needed and to assist maintenance department with general facility upkeep.
Carry out all assignments to the best of one’s ability with the utmost loyalty, honesty and integrity of the position. Terms of Employment: Seasonal – as needed during mowing season averaging up to 30 hours per week for 6 months April-September.

Minimum Performance Responsibilities:
- Mowing/trimming athletic fields and other areas not under mowing contracts.
- Attend classes to receive and maintain certification for spraying weeds.
- Prepare fields for games/practice as needed by painting lines, dragging/raking, filling holes, etc.
- Monitor irrigation equipment as needed.
- Fertilize and seed fields as needed.
- Aerate and sweep fields as needed.
- Service equipment and tools to maintain effective and safe use.
- Participates in occupational safety and health training programs as directed.
- Promptly documents all injuries that require medical attention.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
- Performs other related essential duties as required.

Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, coaches and the community as well as the ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

- Ability to operate a variety of machines, equipment, and tools, including mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, lining machines, edging machines, shovels, rakes, etc.

- Ability to work outside in hot summer conditions

The employee must be able to meet deadlines with moderate time constraints. The equipment noise level can be high so ear protection should be worn when operating loud equipment.
