REPORTS TO: Health Services Coordinator
 
I.       GENERAL DESCRIPTION
         Nurse Aides assist the Registered Nurse with health related duties and are responsible for those specific tasks delegated by the nurse.  Duties are typically           
         those of data entry, record keeping, assisting students with health needs, and preparing health related documents/reports.  Aides may be assigned to assist 
         nurses in other buildings and/or attend field trips with students who have medical needs.Specific assignments may include one or more of the  examples of
         duties and responsibilities listed below.
 
II.      EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
         A.      Assist the nurse with data entry for immunizations, physicals, medications, health conditions, screenings, and student office visits.
         B.      Assist the nurse with delegated nursing tasks such as temperature checks, routine and emergency medication administration, hearing/vision screening, urinary catheterization,
                  blood sugar checks, carbohydrate counts, and diapering/toileting needs.
         C.      Assist the nurse with preparing reports and parent communication related to immunizations, physicals, medications, health conditions, screenings, and student office visits.
         D.      Assist nurses in other buildings and/or attend field trips to assist with medical needs.
         E.      Contact parents to obtain and/or convey student health information.
 
III.     TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
         A.      High school diploma, or equivalent.
         B.      Must have general typing and office skills.
         C.      Must be able to operate photocopying machinery, computer keyboard, printer, calculator, telephone, and other standard office equipment, and perform alphabetizing and filing tasks.

I.       GENERAL DESCRIPTION
 
         The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher with educational and non-educational activities.  The paraprofessional assists in carrying out the program developed by the special education professional(s) and support personnel.
 
II.      EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
         A.      Direct small groups of individual students in teacher-planned instructional activities.
 
         B.      Collect and record instructional and behavioral data as requested by the teacher.
 
         C.     Assist with physical needs of students under direction of teacher.
 
         D.     Assist the teacher in maintaining the classroom management program and handle routine discipline.
 
         E.      Score and check papers.
 
         F.      Operate audio-visual equipment.
 
         G.     Prepare instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
 
         H.      Prepare and copy materials.
 
         I.       Record information for reports as directed by the teacher.
 
         J.      Make charts, bulletin boards and other visual material.
 
         K.      Complete worksheets and reports as directed by the teacher.
 
         L.      Supervise students in place of the teacher during staffings or in emergency situations while the teacher is out of the classroom.
 
         M.     Consider all classroom behavior and achievements confidential.
 
         N.      Assist the teacher in supervision of field trips and school parties but not provide transportation.

III.     TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
 
         A.      On-the-job training sessions are required by the State Department of Education for continued employment.
 
         B.      Good interpersonal relationships.
 
         C.     Must be physically able to restrain students, when appropriate, in compliance with accepted district disciplinary procedures.  Must be physically able to lift, or assist in lifting, non-ambulatory students.
 
         D.     Must be able to proficiently operate classroom equipment including DVD player, computer, and copy machine.
 
         E.      May be required to lift and move 20 to 30 pounds of classroom equipment
