REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of this position is to successfully remediate students in the content area of reading with the goal of gaining more than one year’s growth in a year’s time. The position will focus on teaching small guided reading groups in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade, with an emphasis on students who are designated with an SRD. A strong candidate will have thorough knowledge of reading interventions. He or she should also be adept at using multiple forms of data to analyze student needs and be able to use that information to accelerate students.
This position is for the 2022 school year and is probationary unless start date is after 8/2. Per Master Agreement, when a position is filled after the opening of school by an individual who was not employed by the District in the previous school year, that employee will receive a one-year temporary contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Small group instruction for K-2 students in need of reading and other academic support
- Planning, delivering, and reflecting upon daily lesson plans
- Working with teachers to collaboratively analyze instructional needs, growth, and achievement.
- Providing additional instructional supports as needed for students in 1:1 and small group settings.
- Commitment to participating in school-based committees and groups as needed.
- Determine student needs based upon data analysis.
- Collaboratively working with other interventionists and teachers to provide research-based instruction.
- Supervision duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL TEACHING POSITIONS: - Must hold a Colorado Alternative, Provisional or Professional Teaching License with appropriate endorsement.
- Bachelor's degree or higher required from an accredited university or college.
- Completed a state approved Teacher Preparation Program or participation in an Alternative Teacher License program.
- Demonstrates subject matter competency by one of the following means:
- Passes the Elementary PLACE or PRAXIS exam in Colorado or in a CDE approved state.
- Passes the Veteran Teacher HOUSSE, held a license on or before July 1, 2006 and has had one or more years of completed teaching experience.

KEY RESULT AREAS AND ATTENDANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Planning - Plan instruction consistent with the district-approved curriculum for assigned subject area(s)/grade level(s)
- Use formal and informal methods to assess the abilities and needs of students.
- Plan effective use of class time.
- Responsible for planning and implementing instruction in all content areas including Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies daily.
Instructional interaction (teaching) - Apply principles of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement.
- Utilize teaching methods that are appropriate for the objectives and learners.
- Modify instruction to meet student needs.
- Communicate effectively with learners.
- Provide for and maintain student involvement during instruction
Evaluation of instruction - Use the evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of instruction.
- Communicate effectively student progress to student and parent/guardian
Instructional management - Attend to tasks in a manner that maximizes instruction.
- Maintain necessary student records.
- Assist in planning for appropriate use of volunteers/aides as assigned
- Responsible for assessing students’ progress, analyzing results and planning appropriate instruction based on observations in order to meet individual needs of students in your classroom
Learning Environment - Establish clear expectations for appropriate behavior.
- Establish consequences for inappropriate behavior.
- Establish conditions under which students exercise self-discipline, honesty, leadership and citizenship.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions required the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires siting, walking, standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.
CLEARANCE:
Must clear online background check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
SALARY:
Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon highest degree earned, college credits earned after highest degree and previous teaching experience. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher salary schedule and Master Agreement are available for review on our district website at www.ssd2.org. Highest initial step placement on the Licensed Salary Schedule is Step 9.
