    Primary Purpose

     

    The 9th Grade Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing students with an engaging and comprehensive Spanish language education. The teacher will develop and implement lesson plans that foster communication, cultural understanding, and language proficiency, in alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and district guidelines.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education/Certification:

     
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with a Spanish (Grades 6-12) certification
    • ESL certification preferred
     

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

     
    • Fluency in Spanish and English
    • Strong understanding of Spanish language instruction and TEKS requirements
    • Knowledge of language acquisition strategies and differentiation techniques
    • Ability to integrate technology into instruction
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
     

    Experience:

     
    • Previous teaching experience preferred
    • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

     

    Instructional Strategies:

     
    • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with TEKS and district guidelines.
    • Provide instruction that enhances students’ ability to speak, read, write, and understand Spanish.
    • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of different learning styles.
    • Encourage student participation and engagement through interactive and student-centered activities.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English language learners and students with special needs.
     

    Student Growth and Development:

     
    • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student motivation and engagement.
    • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a conducive learning environment.
    • Encourage student responsibility and independence in learning.
     

    Classroom Management and Organization:

     
    • Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
    • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and campus procedures.
    • Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment.
     

    Professional Responsibilities:

     
    • Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and professional learning communities (PLCs).
    • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and improve instructional practices.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff.
    • Keep current with best practices in language instruction and education.
    • Uphold district policies and procedures.
     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

     
    • Supervise students in the classroom, during lunch, and in other school activities.
     

    Working Conditions:

     

    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

     
    • Maintain emotional control under stress.
    • Frequent standing, walking, and speaking.
    • Possible exposure to bodily fluids and outdoor weather conditions during student supervision.
    • May require working extended hours for school events and activities.
     

    Salary: Based on Sheldon ISD teacher salary schedule
    Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Sheldon ISD policies and procedures.
    Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through 03/26/2025. After this date, applicants can continue to submit applications in case the district was unable to find a suitable candidate. If the district was unable to find a suitable candidate from the initial applications, applications submitted after 03/26/2025 will be reviewed in ten-day increments until a viable candidate is recommended for hire. 
    Positon cannot be performed remotely.
