GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the principal and assistant principal, the Dean of Students will act to support the mission, vision, and goals of the school, promote campus safety, and contribute to a positive school climate. The Dean of Students is responsible for upholding the rules and standards outlined in the Parent-Student Handbook and school board policy. The Dean is accountable for building positive strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Assists students in establishing high standards of conduct.

2. Properly addresses the improvement of student attendance and discipline.

3. Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, student services personnel, and students on matters of discipline and school safety.

4. Investigates and resolves all discipline problems in accordance with district policy and administrative procedures.

5. Intervenes to address incidents that undermine campus safety and security. 

6. Reports illegal acts to the proper authorities.

7. Supports matters related to student attendance/truancy.

8. Patrols buildings and grounds throughout the day (cafeteria, hallways, external campus, and other assigned or necessary spaces) and during school events. 

9. Ensures coverage at all school events where student supervision is required - Inclusive of extra curriculars, sports, field trips, and overnight trips.

10. Confers with students and parents on security matters.

11. Coordinates with outside organizations and agencies.

12. Collaborates with the School Resource Officer to develop effective practices related to safety and security.

13. Provides direct supervision/oversight of arrival, dismissal, and lunch periods.

14. Collaborates with administration on best practices for the School Safety Team.

15. Executes safety drill training and safety drills for staff and students.

16. Updates the Crisis Manual, as needed.

17. Follows and enforces all district policies.

18. Prepares administrative reports for professional development and MTSS meetings. 

19. Provides and maintains appropriate communication with family and community, including law enforcement agencies and the judicial systems.

20. All other duties, as assigned by school/district administration.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
• Masters Degree in the field of Educational Leadership.

• Administrative experience preferred.

• An understanding of school administration and the duties of an assistant principal as an educational leader.

• Type 75 Administrative Certificate – Illinois School Board of Education

Duties: The primary responsibilities of the special education teacher include but are not limited to:  providing a program of support and enrichment for students with a variety of ability levels.  Work in a classroom, individual or small group basis with students who have a variety of learning needs.  Work with classroom teachers, aides, social workers, parents and administration to determine and provide accommodations and instructional needs.  Assist with the screening and evaluation of students.  Write and revise IEP’s for students and monitor their progress.  Team teach with regular classroom teachers with some pull out.  Stay up to date on education trends and requirements by a continued program of professional growth.  Keeps records and reports pertinent to the Special Education program.  District 155 expects teacher candidates to be child-centered professionals with a high degree of energy, flexibility, and initiative. Expectations are that teachers also are clear verbal and written communicators, have well-developed interpersonal skills, practice reflective teaching, and seek continuous self-improvement.
 
Responsibilities:
 
1. Teaches language arts and/or other assigned subject areas to pupils in a classroom utilizing concepts and pedagogy adopted by the Board and other appropriate learning activities.
2. Instruct pupils in citizenship and subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
4. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
5. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
6. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
7. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’ progress and interpret the school program.
8. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
9. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
10. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
11. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
12. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
13. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
14. Participates in curriculum development programs.
15. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
16. Is a full participant as an instructor and team member in the implementation of intervention strategies, differentiation and interventions.
17.  Participates and attends IEP meetings
18.  Special education teachers accommodate and modify curriculum.
19.  Special education teachers write necessary components of IEPS.
 
Other duties as assigned by administration.

Duties: The primary duty of the Bilingual Paraprofessional Aide is to assist the classroom teachers, reinforce learning objectives, and assisting student with disabilities in achieving their established goals. A bilingual instructional aide is defined as one who is "fluent in both English and the primary language of the students of limited English proficiency in a bilingual program and shall be familiar with the cultural heritage of pupils of limited English proficiency in the classes to which he or she is assigned.  The position also requires for the candidate to work with students in individual or small group settings, and provide assistance to students with personal care and mobility support.  
 
Responsibilities: The bilingual aide is responsible for but not limited to: 
 
1. Follow through on teacher strategies for reinforcing material or skill based on an understanding of individual students, their needs interest and abilities; 
 
2.) Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by teacher; 
 
3.) Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic test as the teacher recommends for individual students; 
 
4.) Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher; 
 
5.) Checks notebooks, corrects paper and supervises testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher; 
 
6.) Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud and storytelling; 
 
7.) Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher; 
 
8.) Relates information to the classroom teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student as determined by the special area teacher; 
 
9.) Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and their families and other employs outside the school as expected of fully licensed teachers; 
 
10.) Participates, as requested, in professional workshops, attend staff meetings and other recommended training programs; 
 
11.) Assists in modifying class work as needed for student to achieve success; 
 
12.) Treat all students and staff with dignity and respect.
