    Sheridan County School District is looking for a friendly, caring, and motivated General/Office Paraprofessional to join the Henry A. Coffeen School team for the 2025/2026 school year.

    SCHEDULE: This position will work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. 4 hours will be spent working in the office and 4 hours with students.  Time-off will match the school calendar including days off during Christmas, Spring, and Summer breaks.

    BENEFITS:  Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Wyoming Retirement Pension, Aflac Supplemental Insurance, Life Insurance, Flex Share Plans and Paid Leave consisting of 2 Personal Days and 10 Sick Leave Days.

    STARTING WAGE:  $14.47-17.47 depending on experience ($1.00 increase for BA/BS)

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    1. High School graduate or equivalent.
    2. Good command of the English language.
    3. Ability to work well with students and staff.
    4. Working knowledge and competence in reading, math, English, and related academic subjects.
    5. Typing and computer skills preferred.
     

    REPORTS TO: Building principal and/or classroom teacher

     

    JOB GOAL: To assist the teaching staff in supporting the learning programs for students in their designated educational environment.

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    1. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
    2. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
    3. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
    4. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
    5. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
    6. Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and story-telling.
    7. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
    8. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.
    9. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning school matters.
     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration. Salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

    Placement on any of the Classified (Hourly) Wage Schedules for all new employees will be based solely on an individual's years of job-related experience:

     
    • School district experience (full time) = One (1) year of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
    • School district experience (substitute) & non-school district experience = three (3) years of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
     

    *placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent

     

    Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints. Idividuals that start in their position after the start of second semester will not be eligible for a step increase the following school year. 

     

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
