SEASONAL SKILLED BUS MECHANIC - Transportation Department
 
SCSD2 is seeking a positive, motivated, and knowledgeable skilled bus mechanic for the 2025 Summer months.
 
This temporary position will assist during our summer months for 20 hrs. per week (June 16 - August 8).
 
HOURLY WAGE:  $19.08 per hour - Annual increase of $0.50/year for seasonal staff that return year to year (without a break in season) up to year 5.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have mechanical and electrical skills to help the mechanic with bus repairs.
2. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned duties.
3. Valid Driver’s License, properly endorsed, and acceptable driving, and accident record. 
REPORTS TO: Lead Mechanic and Transportation Director
 
JOB GOALS: To keep the district’s buses in such as state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Service buses per maintenance schedule.
2. Repair all mechanical and electrical malfunctions on school buses per lead mechanic’s direction.
3. Repair bus seats and wash spare buses.
4. Maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
5. Performs such tasks and responsibilities as the lead mechanic/transportation director may assign from time to time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Employment relationship with the District is at will.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation.

SEASONAL LEAD INVENTORY WORKER - Transporation Department

SCSD2 is seeking a positive, motivated, and knowledgeable seasonal inventory lead for the 2025 summer.
 
This temporary position is to assist during the summer months for 40 hrs. per week (June 2 - June 27) for 4 weeks.

WAGE: $15.50 per hour
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
1. Must be detail oriented with ability to work independently and lead others in a mechanical shop environment.

2. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned duties.

3. Valid Driver’s License, properly endorsed, and acceptable driving, and accident record. 
 
REPORTS TO: Lead Mechanic and Transportation Director
 
JOB GOALS: To keep the district’s school bus parts inventory  in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.

3. Identify all mechanical and electrical parts on school buses per lead mechanic’s direction.

5. Performs such tasks and responsibilities as the lead mechanic/transportation director may assign from time to time.

Bus Driver - Districtwide

Rotating School Bus Drivers Needed!

SCSD#2 is seeking positive, safety-conscious Bus Drivers to fill morning and afternoon routes, week day field trips and weekend activity travel as needed!

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! SCSD2 will provide paid training for successful candidates to obtain a CDL and required endorsements. SCSD2 is also offering a $500 sign-on bonus to candidates that complete 6 months of employment (half will be paid after 3 months of employment).
 
This is a part-time position, working Monday through Friday for 20 hrs/week, with opportunities for additional hours taking students on week day field trips, or on weekend trips for school sponsored activities.
 
STARTING WAGE:  $17.55 - $20.55 per hour, depending on prior driving experience.

BENEFITS: Time off matches the school calendar including holidays, spring and summer breaks. Paid personal and sick leave, paid wait time on all trips, supplemental insurance through Aflac.

QUALIFICATIONS:    
 
1. Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug screen (FMCSR 49 CFR 391.41 Physical Qualifications for Drivers).
2. Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
3. Ability to obtain a CDL with a P, S, and Air Brake endorsement within one month of hire.        
 
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director

JOB GOAL: To transport students in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner.      
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Transport authorized students following assigned route schedules.
2. Obey all traffic laws and safely operate a school bus.
3. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
4. Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
5. Keep the assigned bus clean.
6. Check the bus before each operation for mechanical defects and report any problems to the proper authority.
7. Inspect the daily route schedule; follow planned routes and time schedule.
8. Complete any necessary paperwork promptly and accurately.
9. Report all accidents to the supervisor.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration. Salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

*placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent
 
Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints.
