Substitute Teacher and Substitute Ed Techs
District
Substitute Teacher/ Ed Tech are employed on an on-call, day-to-day, as needed basis. Substitute Teacher/ Ed Tech will be assigned to serve in the absence of a teacher or to teach a class that does not currently have a regular teacher (vacancy). Employee absences are unpredictable and fluctuate greatly; therefore, it is impossible to predict how many days a substitute will work in any school week or year. Substitute employees are encouraged to make themselves available daily and be flexible to various grades and subjects. They are expected to work on the days they state they are available.
Half-day absences are as important as full day absences and substitute employees are expected to accept any half-day assignments offered to them. RSU5 pays $150/full day and $75/half day (3.5 hours or less) for a Teacher/ Ed Tech Substitute.
All Subsitute Teacher / Ed Tech's are required to have a valid Criminal History Record Check certification through the Maine Department of Education, complete with fingerprints prior to employment. Requirements:
Valid CHRC from Maine Dept. of Education.
