RSU5 Community Programs is seeking energetic, playful, kid-centric individuals to be counselors at Camp Seaside, our traditional summer day camp based in Freeport.
 
Counselors help plan daily activities for the campers and directly engage the children to create for them a fun and memorable summer experience. Camp Seaside emphasizes active outdoor play and exploration, and each week includes field trips, hikes, beach trips, and activities that promote nature-based learning. Camp Seaside is comprised of the Puffins (grade K-2) and the Seals (grades 3-5), each with approximately 30 weekly campers.
 
The first day of our eight-week camp is Monday, June 23, and the last day is Thursday, August 15. Employment begins with at least two days of required hands-on training and preparation prior to the start of camp.
 
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age and have experience in providing care for young children.

RSU5 has an IMMEDIATE NEED FOR individuals to supervise and ensure the safety of students within the Laugh & Learn before and /or aftercare programs.  Teachers provide a fun and nurturing environment for children before and/or after their regular school hours. The teacher will assist with homework, create engaging activities, and be alert to the needs of students as individuals and as part of a group. The teacher must be attentive and extensively supervise the children. Must be at least 18 years old. Must hold or be eligible for a CHRC from Maine Department of Education. This position is open for permanent and substitute roles during the school year.
 
Hours for these positions vary from 1.5 hours to 4 hours per day, 7.5 to 20 hours per week during the school year. Previous childcare experience is preferred.

Substitute Teacher/ Ed Tech are employed on an on-call, day-to-day, as needed basis. Substitute Teacher/ Ed Tech will be assigned to serve in the absence of a teacher or to teach a class that does not currently have a regular teacher (vacancy). Employee absences are unpredictable and fluctuate greatly; therefore, it is impossible to predict how many days a substitute will work in any school week or year. Substitute employees are encouraged to make themselves available daily and be flexible to various grades and subjects. They are expected to work on the days they state they are available.
 
Half-day absences are as important as full day absences and substitute employees are expected to accept any half-day assignments offered to them. RSU5 pays $150/full day and $75/half day (3.5 hours or less) for a Teacher/ Ed Tech Substitute.
