Media Specialist (0.5 FTE)
Position Description
Rockford Area Schools is currently seeking a Media Specialist (0.50FTE) for the 2025-26 school year. The Media Specialist position will be based at Rockford High School and:
Directs, organizes, and supervises the personnel and services essential to a library media program centered on students' needs and the instructional goals of the schools.
Develops and maintains a long-range plan for library media instruction and services and collaborates with classroom teachers to develop specific subject-area projects that integrate information literacy skills and technology literacy standards.
Evaluates the collection of each library, and establishes a collection development plan and annual budget that will ensure that the collections support the schools' curricula and encourage student recreational reading; the collection development plan will include selection and deselection, a challenged materials procedure, and an intellectual and academic freedoms statement.
Develops and implements programs that encourage recreational reading.
Acts as a consultant to teachers and staff on matters dealing with information and technology literacy and advises them on techniques and resources to enhance classroom instruction.
Stays informed of emerging technologies and the potential impact on instruction and learning, providing systematic whole group, small group, and 1:1 instruction to teachers and staff on use.
Encourages and stimulates the search for effective and innovative methods of instruction.
Works closely with teachers and principals to plan for staff and curriculum development to meet specific building and district-wide goals/needs.
An appropriate license issued by the State of Minnesota is required.

$45,093 - $92,423 dependent on qualifications (pro-rated)

Single Coverage - District pays $740 toward premium
Family Coverage - District pays $1400 toward premium
District contributes $1,000 into HSA - if enrolled in high deductible plan

Retirement:
The District contributes 7.25% of your total salary in the Teachers Retirement Association pension plan
Employees may also elect to participate in Deferred Compensation Plan once continuing rights granted
Dental: Single coverage - District pays sum that covers premium for employee only
Life Insurance: District provides $60,000 of life insurance at no cost, employee may purchase supplemental life insurance
Long Term Disability: District provided at no cost to the employee
