The Richfield Public School District is currently accepting applications for part time lifeguards at Richfield Middle School.  Under the direction of the Youth Program Coordinator, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Supervising  the aquatic area to prevent accidents,
• Assist swimmers
• Keeping the area and facilities clean.
• Assisting with lessons, open swim times, in-service trainings, and special events.
• Creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere to give participants and spectators a positive experience. 
• Lifeguards must be reliable, courteous, and ready to act. 
Hours will be assigned based on pool and program needs and may include daytime, evening, or weekend hours.
Work Timeframe:
• School year: 11:00 am-3:30 pm Saturdays
• Summer: 8:45 am-4:00 pm Mon-Thur (some Fridays due to holidays)

Payrate: $16.26-$18.80 per hour effective June 1st, 2024

Minimum Certification:
American Red Cross Lifeguard; First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED

Water Safety Aide

The Richfield Community Education program is accepting applications for part time Water Safety Aides at the Richfield Middle School. The Water Safety Aide will assist the Water Safety Instructor in teaching the Richfield Olympic Style Swim curriculum in the indoor pool as scheduled. An instructor aide must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual who enjoys swimming and teaching children or adults. 

Work Timeframe:
• School year:  10:00 am-1:30 pm Saturdays
• Summer: Primarily daytime hours, Mon- Thurs
Pay rate: $12.02-13.23 

Qualifications
Must be at least 15 years of age
Must have knowledge of water safety and stroke technique
Ability to listen and demonstrate instructions to others
Available for the entire program session and have a flexible schedule for changes
 
General duties
Attend new employee orientation as well as required trainings, in-services, and staff meetings
Follow and be a role model for all rules, policies and chain of command of the pool facility
Be responsible for knowing and assisting in performing the Emergency Action Plan
 
Responsibilities
Assist with classes as assigned and scheduled.
Arrive on deck 15 minutes prior to the star of the first class to assist with preparations
Assist in providing for the safety of your students and never leave a class unsupervised
Assist the instructor as directed during the lessons
Assist with putting equipment away
 
Physical Demands
Ability to safely work in shallow and deep water, including the diving well (approximately 3 - 10 feet deep)
Must be able to remain alert in the pool area, with no lapses of consciousness in a warm environment with air temperatures of 80 degrees or higher for one to four hours
Ability to recognize distress signals
Ability to support child or adult body weight in the water
Demonstrate (model) appropriate swimming skills and stroke technique to participants as directed
