Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Food Service Director to join our team. The Food Service Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of the school meal program for the district, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This position will focus on providing nutritious, appealing meals that meet the dietary needs of students while managing resources effectively and fostering a positive food service environment.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Oversee the development and implementation of nutritious meal programs that meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
Plan menus that are age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and inclusive of diverse dietary needs.
Monitor and evaluate food service operations, adjusting plans and strategies as necessary.
Prepare and manage the food service budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain accurate financial records, including food purchasing, inventory management, and labor costs.
Train and supervise food service staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Develop staff training programs that emphasize safe food handling, preparation techniques, and customer service.
Ensure all food service operations comply with health and safety regulations, as well as USDA requirements.
Conduct regular inspections of food preparation areas and food service operations to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Act as a liaison between the food service program and the school community, including students, parents, and staff.
Communicate effectively with school administrators, staff, and parents regarding food service policies, changes, and initiatives.
Assist with office operations including maintaining documents and procedures.
Work independently and with others to fulfill school goals and objectives.
Regular and predictable attendance.

Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a K-12 educational setting.
Knowledge of USDA regulations, nutrition standards, and food safety practices.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships within the school community.
Certification in food safety and nutrition is preferred.
