The Teacher will provide direct instruction and intervention to students.
The Teacher will assist students in mastering the required Michigan ELA Common Core standards.
The Teacher will teach, tutor, and use technological interventions to improve achievement.
The Teacher will encourage students to set and maintain high standards of responsibility for their own learning and behavior.
Understand the school and state requirements to teach ELA to middle school students and create lessons that corresponds to the school curriculum.
Prepare and submit designated grade level lesson plans on a weekly basis.
Knowledge of content, pedagogy, and child development
Apply differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student
Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student-learning styles.
Impart ELA lessons, keeping in mind the individual learning paces of students
Design coherent instruction and student assessments
Assist students in understanding ELA concepts and applying them in multiple contexts
Ability to plan and implement a variety of activities to maximize effectiveness of instruction and student participation.
Ability to effectively assess the student levels of achievement, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement.
Assess students by observing them closely and provide special attention to students struggling with ELA concepts.
Provide parents with information on how to help their children achieve higher results.
Observe students for behavioral problems and ensure that any behavioral issues are quickly and tactfully addressed.
Assist students in creating projects to help them understand difficult concepts.
Develop key incentives to ensure students’ participation in class.

Enforce rules of conduct and ensure classroom and campus discipline.
Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the Academy’s philosophy, instructional goals, and objectives of education.
Participate in weekly staff meetings, on-going professional developments, and grade level/content area meetings and trainings.
Maintain appropriate administrative records according to district policy.
Consistently support and uphold school policies and procedures. Support the school and its’ leadership.
Model self-discipline and ethical behavior. Present self in a professional manner through appropriate dress, communication techniques, and demeanor.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.

Compensation
This salary range for certified teachers is $50,000 - $76,000 and is based upon years of experience, education level, and content area.
