    POSITION TITLE:       General Education School Social Worker          
    DEPARTMENT:          Elementary Schools     
    REPORTS TO:             Director of Special Services & Building Principals            
    PAY SCHEDULE:       As per REA Collective Bargaining Agreement and experience 
    EFFECTIVE:                2024-2025 School Year
     
    Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Social Work.
    • Current LCSW Licensed and approved through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
    • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Training preferred.
    • Understanding of the School Social Work profession including laws (IDEA, ADA, HIPAA, Section 504, MDHHS – Child Protection Law Act 238 of 1975, attendance, etc.)
    • Knowledge in Response to Intervention – identifying research-based Tier I, Tier II and Tier III academic and behavioral interventions.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
    • Compassionate and approachable personality.
    • Excellent time management, communication and organizational skills.
    • Professional experience, in a school setting, preferred.
    • Ability to develop and provide staff in-service training programs and direct support to staff.
    • Experience in a multi-cultural school setting, preferred.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Experience in differential diagnosis, assessment and progress monitoring.
    • Ability to plan evidence-based interventions for individual and groups of students.
    • Participates in activities to enhance good school – community relationships.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with school personnel.
    • Fosters and maintains positive and collaborative relationships.
    • Completes and maintains student records, documentation, comprehensive reports and record keeping in accordance with District policies and procedures.
    • Ability to meet compliance timelines.
    • Ability to interact positively with students, staff and parents.
    • Provides referrals to outside agencies.
    • Provides crisis intervention.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of behavior plans.
    • Maintains student contact logs to document services provided.
    • Documents and reports Medicaid related services.
    • Participates in Staff Development and training staff.
    • Assist parents of students with emotional challenges to understand social / emotional behavior and its’ impact on learning.
    • Effectively communicate, coordinate and collaborate with staff, students and parents.
    • Function as a collaborative and contributing team member within the School Staff.
    • Perform other duties as may be related to position.

    • The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid.
    • The employee must be able to move about the assigned work location during the day.
     
    Work Environment:

    • Work is performed primarily in a standard office and school environment with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
    • At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
    • The noise level in the work environment varies from soft to moderately loud.
    • The employee is required to interact with students, staff, parents/guardians, and with the public.
