    PRIMARY PURPOSE:
    Supervise overall operation of the Plano ISD Agriculture Project Center (APC) facility.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    Education/Certification: 
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Agriculture Science teacher certification  
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Comprehensive understanding of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources instruction - classroom and laboratory experiences, Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE), and leadership activities
    • Broad knowledge of FFA goals, programs, and activities
    • Thorough knowledge of care, feeding, and housing of animals
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to handle animals with confidence and patience
    • Expertise in agriculture facility maintenance
     
    Experience:
    • Three years of teaching experience in Agriculture Science
    • Extensive experience working with animals
    • Operate various equipment including trucks, trailers, and Bobcat loader
     
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Facility Oversight
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the APC
    • Maintain safe and secure environment for students and their animals
    • Coordinate maintenance and upkeep with appropriate departments, vendors, and contractors
    • Ensure appropriate sanitation standards at the facility in partnership with district departments
    • Schedule repair and maintenance of PISD Agricultural department trucks and trailers
    • Respond to all unplanned operational and/or maintenance events
    Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure compliance with the requirements and standards outlined in the APC contract
    • Provide training to staff, students, and parents/guardians on facility usage, safety protocols, and project guidelines
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed
    • Oversee the completion of APC contracts as required and manage the issuance and administration of facility badges
    • Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
    • Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
    SAE Project Management
    • Monitor animal health and seek veterinary advice/intervention when necessary
    • In collaboration with species advisors, advise students as needed regarding proper feed and care of their animals
    • Assist with SAE projects as needed
    • Configure appropriate penning arrangements for animals
    • Review and monitor volunteer applications through Voly
    APC/Community Relations
    • Serve as a liaison between parents and district staff regarding the operations, travel, safety, and procedures at the APC
    • Foster positive relationships with community members and stakeholders to support program growth and resource availability
    Administrative Duties
    • Develop, implement, and assist in communicating guidelines for use of APC
    • Coordinate transportation of SAE projects 
    • Maintain inventory of equipment, determine repair/replacement needs
    • Identify and resolve current and potential problems/issues while maintaining accurate records and communicating on relative to work performed, project progress, safety, and security
    Other

    • Ability to prioritize tasks 
    • Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and or/supervisor

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
    • Work with a wide variety of animals
    • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
    • Work with frequent interruptions
    • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
    • Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
    • Work with specialized machinery and/or agricultural equipment
