Summary:
Under the general direction of the site administration and a certificated staff member, the Special Education Para Educator III will perform a variety of duties in support of instructional activities for students with disabilities who are enrolled in preschool, moderate/severe, and autism programs.  Students enrolled in these classes are being instructed using an alternative functional academics/life skills curriculum, preschool curriculum, or are being instructed using the general education core curriculum but with specialized instructional techniques, such as those used for students with autism or emotional disabilities. Special Education Para Educator III providing support in any of these settings are often required, after appropriate training, to administer medical procedures, provide instruction through use of specialized equipment and/or techniques, and work independently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials (e.g. communication boards, computers, Braille machine, etc.) for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all students with disabilities to participate in classroom activities.
• Assist students with disabilities with classroom and daily living skills (e.g. lifts/positions students, toileting, diapering, tube feeding, changing clothes, feeding, on/off busses, etc.) for the purpose of creating a positive plan of action to address specific student issues and helping them to process behaviors.
• Confer with teachers, School Psychologist, and staff as appropriate for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress, implementing IEP objectives and identifying resources.
• Implement academic instruction for individuals or small groups (e.g. cooking, math, reading, language, spelling, music, etc.) for the purpose of meeting learning goals, as described by an IEP and/or district benchmarks.
• Apply specialized techniques/strategies such as community-based instruction, behavior intervention level systems, structured teaching, picture communication systems, large print materials, mobility training, Brailling, and all types of assistive technology including assistive and augmentative communication systems, as required.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by an IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other conditions for the purpose of assisting in meeting special education students’ needs and providing a consistent environment.
• Instruct students with disabilities (e.g., math, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, verbal skills, etc.) for the purpose of implementing goals and ensuring students’ success.
• Maintain instructional materials and/or student files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials, checking papers, attendance, audio visual equipment, set up projects, emergency cards, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.
• Monitor students with disabilities (e.g. lunch, bus stops, playground, classroom, field trips, assemblies, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school rules regarding behavior and participation, and/or providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform record keeping (daily data on instruction and/or behavior) and clerical functions (e.g. correcting papers, copying, instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher in providing necessary records/materials.
• Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, seizures, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. 
• Under the supervision of a certificated special education teacher or specialist, assist in planning and conducting lessons and other classroom, small group, or one-to-one activities.
• Assist with yard supervision.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. ABA, E/BD, CPR training, Blood Borne Pathogen, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Assist students in monitoring their classroom behavior and help students develop strategies and techniques for self-management to ensure academic success.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information in accordance with district, state, and federal mandates and other specific legal requirements or policies.
• Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity toward students and their individual differences in terms of abilities cultures, and languages..

Summary:
Organizes, leads, and participates in the day-to-day food service operation at a school site or central kitchen that provides services to other locations.  Oversees quantity food preparation working from and adapting pre-planned menus.  Oversees, directs and coordinates the work of food service staff.  Performs as a cashier and is responsible for the daily operation of the point-of-sale computerized program.  Orders and maintains an inventory of food items as well as food service records in compliance with state and federal requirements.  Performs other related work as required.

Recommends and assists in the implementation of department goals and objectives.  Implements policies and procedures.
Monitors the critical control points when receiving, preparing, serving and storing food to ensure compliance with District HACCP Program and County sanitation requirements.
Monitors and participates in the serving of nutrition meals to students.  Monitors and participates in the preparation of main dishes, sandwiches, salads, salad bars, baked goods, desserts and other food items by following standardized recipes and production sheets to meet required meal components.

Summary:

• Assists in the preparation of the school and or student body budget.  Organizes budget and financial material to monitor expenditures and maintains accurate fiscal records for a variety of programs.  Maintains a variety of files.
• Monitors student enrollment to maximize average daily attendance.  Oversees and may review reports to verify correctness of information, and participates in preparing monthly reports to the District. 
• Coordinates and monitors requests for substitute teachers and other staff, including class rosters, instructors, contact information, schedules and classroom access.
• Provides support to processing of certificated and classified payroll items.  Maintains absence records and reports with respect to personnel.

Under the direction of the site administration in collaboration with the School Psychologist and Special Services Coordinator, the primary role of the Behavior Intervention Assistant is to:  1) empower all students to fully participate in the core curriculum and achieve academic and behavioral success; 2) help students develop skills in areas such as study skills, organizational skills, attendance, academic engagement, peer interactions, conflict resolution, and communication with home; 3) assist in preventing inappropriate behavior; and 4) instructing and reinforcing appropriate behavioral expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
• Assist with the design and implementation of various intervention strategies and programs to support student achievement, including strategies within the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) framework; individual and classroom positive behavior support and modification strategies; alternative means of correction; and strategies to facilitate social-emotional learning and appropriate behavior for all students.
• Be visible on school grounds and in classrooms to reinforce positive behavior.
• Work with students individually and in groups, at various locations on campus, to assist with specific academic, social-emotional, and behavioral strategies and interventions and to discuss proactive techniques for academic and behavioral success.
• Assist the teacher in general education setting or special classes with students with emotional and behavioral challenges and/or other disabilities including mental or physical handicapping conditions.
• Participate in required trainings including the District mandated E/BD training for paraprofessionals, as well as nonviolent crisis intervention.
• Direct students into safe learning activities and functions, and assist in shaping of appropriate social behaviors.
• Assist students in monitoring their classroom behavior and help students identify goals and develop strategies and techniques for self-management to promote academic success.
• Assist with the training and reviewing of behavioral expectations of students in various campus settings; visit classrooms to impart or review expectations to promote academic success.
• Discuss with students their choice that resulted in their being disciplined and discuss alternatives that they could have employed to handle the situation.
• Provide support to staff in designing and implementing intervention strategies to support students’ behavioral and social skills.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, and student progress/data meetings for the purpose of sharing information and improving skills and knowledge.
• Collect and analyze data on discipline, attendance, and referrals; provide support to staff on progress monitoring; maintain student files for the purpose of records management.
• Provide communication to family and staff regarding student’s behavior progress.
• Confer with teachers, specialists, and School Psychologists regarding necessary accommodations.
• Work effectively and maintain a professional rapport with teachers, students, and other staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information in accordance with district, state, and federal mandates and other specific legal requirements or policies.
• Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity toward students and their individual differences in terms of abilities, cultures, and languages.

Performs a variety of work in connection with the custodial, grounds cleanup, and light maintenance at a school campus, classroom, multi-use, office, or related facilities. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
• Cleans, dusts, and disinfects restrooms including floors, stalls, toilets, urinals, and fixtures. Removes trash and waste. Cleans trash receptacles and replaces liners.  Replenishes soap and towel dispensers.
• Cleans public entry and use areas including, but not limited to hallways, stairways, and meeting rooms.  Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, door handles, and door push plates. 
• Sweeps and mops hard floors and baseboards, spot cleaning as necessary and wet mopping on a regularly scheduled basis.  Vacuums and spot cleans carpeted areas.
• Performs regularly scheduled cleaning of classroom, laboratory, and office areas including, but not limited to furniture, fixtures, and boards.
• Maintains safe and clean walkway and grounds surrounding the assigned area.  Picks up litter.  Empties and cleans outdoor trash.
• Rearranges, moves, and sets furniture and equipment in place, according to established instructions and seating arrangements.  Participates with others to assemble furniture, removing from and properly disposing of packaging materials. 
• Sets up and takes down seating and equipment for various events, including theater and gymnasium use.  Sets up special equipment such as barriers, benches, bleachers, floor mats, and other equipment.
• Participates in major cleaning projects that include, but are not limited to, carpet cleaning and floor stripping and refinishing.
• Secures internal and external entry and exit doors, ensuring that windows and lights are locked and off. 
• Communicates the need for work order requests for maintenance services to the Head Custodian or other designated resource.   Documents work activities and unanticipated occurrences.
• Checks and records emergency eye wash and shower stations, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency telephones for proper functioning or stock.
• Inspects equipment used on a regular basis for function and required servicing.  Makes minor repairs and arranges for complex repairs.
• May perform routine minor servicing and maintenance to fixtures such as, but not limited to minor plumbing adjustments, oiling of door hinges and wall panel glide tracks, tightening of loose fixtures, repair of electrical cords, repair or replacement of dispensers, and minor carpet repairs.
• Maintains a safe working environment in the assigned area(s), notifying the appropriate resources of safety hazards observed and/or takes action to mitigate or eliminate potential hazardous conditions.  
• Ensures that secondary containers for cleaning and other products are properly labeled. Follows Safety Data Sheet (SDS) instructions for handling and disposal of custodial products.
• Maintains current knowledge of proper safety precautions and proper use of cleaning materials and chemicals in use in laboratory areas. 
• May provide basic orientation on work methods, equipment operation, and time saving techniques to new custodians.
• Communicates the need for supplies and replacement components as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned that support the objectives of the position

Qualifications:
  
• Knowledge and Skills:
  • The position requires thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial care and routine facilities maintenance.  Requires a thorough knowledge of the buildings and grounds of the assigned site.  Requires basic knowledge of daily school schedules and routines.  Requires working knowledge of work hazards and safe work techniques, including lifting procedures. Requires basic knowledge of chemical reactions and proper safety precautions for use.  Requires basic knowledge of fixture, repairs.  Requires sufficient reading and writing ability to read work instructions and document work activity onto standardized forms.  Requires sufficient human relations skill to work with other Custodians and exercise courtesy when dealing with others.
• Abilities:

Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of prior custodial experience.
• At least 1 letter of recommendation preferred. 

Licenses and Certificates:
• May require a valid driver’s license. 

Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (26) $19.60 - $24.32 per hour, eight (8) steps, eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F). Work schedule is eligible for 5% night differential compensation. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only, prorated according to number of hours worked.

  • The position requires working practices of reinforcing age appropriate child development and guidance applicable in an educational setting. Requires basic knowledge of the subjects taught in the schools served by the district, including science, math, writing, grammar, spelling, language and reading, sufficiently to assist students with individual or group studies. Requires a basic knowledge of methods for effective tutoring and instruction assistance. Requires knowledge of basic clerical and student record keeping processes. Summary:

Qualifications:

  • The position requires in-depth knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment utilized in custodial and general maintenance. Requires considerable skill in using the full range of equipment used in custodial work. Requires working knowledge of mechanical and structural infrastructure including heating and air conditioning equipment sufficient to replace filters and adjust temperatures. Requires a working knowledge of work hazards and safety practices. Requires knowledge of modern work leadership practices. Requires sufficient English language writing skill to document work activity. Requires sufficient human relations skill to influence the productivity of a small team and work cooperatively with site personnel and the public. Must receive a satisfactory score (70%) on the Head Custodian screening test.
