Purpose Statement
The Registered Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students in-district. The RBT will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to implement behavior intervention plans for students that require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. The Registered Behavior Technician will meet all of the requirements of RBT certification. This is not an instructional support position, although the RBT may provide some instructional support to students as needed.
This job reports to Building Admin, BCBA and/or Director of Student Support Services
Essential Functions
Understand and apply the basic principles of ABA in classroom settings as directed.
Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior
Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. (BIP)
Support staff in the implementation Behavior Intervention Plans to affect behavior changes
Regularly review, and remain well-versed in a multitude of BIPs in order to implement the plans and monitor plans for multiple students, at the same time
Provide direct consultation to the BCBA, specific to analysis of data and recommendations for modifications or revisions to BIPs.
Model implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans for paraprofessionals and staff 8. When required, provide physical intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors
Perform and document the district approved restraint and seclusion methods; as well as participate in yearly crisis intervention training provided by the district.
Participate as a member of the school crisis team
Attend IEP meetings as requested
Attend regular PLCs with the BCBA and other RBTs
Maintain consistency of Behavioral Intervention Plans by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff
Work with multiple students, wide-variety of age ranges, as assigned by the administration, case manager, and/or BCBA, and possibly work at multiple sites during the school year
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, use stairs, get up and down from off the floor, all with ease. Job will be physically demanding at times.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing projects; analyzing data; applying assessment instruments; facilitating meetings; and promoting activities and/or events.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; college entry requirements; assessment instruments and techniques; cultural differences of student population; office equipment and technology; recordkeeping and record retention practices; Career Technical Education; Carl D. Perkins law; career planning process; and various assessments and data sources.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; tracking budget expenditures. Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 45% sitting,
25% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience: Education: Equivalency:
Minimum of high school diploma as well as formal training in theories of Applied Behavioral Analysis, or Behavioral Support Interventions and successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician training course and examination for certification.
Required Testing:
District Proficiency Test or AA Degree or 60 college/university credits
Certificates and Licenses:
Registered Behavior Technician certification, as evidenced by completion of the RBT training course and examination, as well as participation in the district provided crisis intervention training.
