Job Goal(s): | Following the guidance of the BCBA, to implement home program goals and objectives including parent coaching, to support the treatment plan and parent participation in home programming |
| |
Qualifications: | - Pass the Parapro test or complete a minimum of 60 credit hours of college coursework
- Recent experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or related developmental disabilities in a direct care capacity preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based methodologies found to benefit children with ASD preferred, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and Pivotal Response Training (PRT).
- Previous experience providing education, coaching, and support to families with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or related developmental disabilities within a classroom and/or home-based setting
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment
- Ability to appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations of the Paramus School District
- Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple work sites; reliable transportation needed (proof of NJ valid driver’s license and current auto insurance identification card)

Performance Responsibilities: | - Assist students who are assigned to the ABA Home Program.
- Implement IEP goals as directed by the BCBA and Case Coordinator.
- Work with parents to implement specified goals and objectives for parent training.
- Teach daily living, social skills, and receptive and expressive language skills.
- Maintain accurate data and graphing on all designated programs while updating the program book daily.
- Plan and implement all aspects of systematic instructional sequences within the home and/or community.
- Meet regularly with BCBA and/or Case Coordinator.
- Attend staff meetings when scheduled.
- Provide documentation of student progress when deemed necessary by BCBA and/or Case Coordinator.
- Maintain student safety including the application of crisis prevention interventions and physical management techniques, when necessary and appropriate.
- Implement behavior intervention plans designed to reinforce appropriate behaviors and eliminate inappropriate behaviors including disruptive behaviors.
- Complete additional job duties as assigned by Case Coordinator and/or BCBA.

Salary: | Hourly vouchered rate: Associates Degree $25 per hour Bachelor Degree $30 per hour Master Degree $35 per hour |

Evaluation: | The ABA Therapist shall be evaluated annually utilizing the Paramus School District Annual Support Staff Review Form. |
