KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follows all rules, policies, and procedures of OCS, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
2. Assists in classroom/student management and maintaining discipline.
3. Gives group instruction as prescribed by teacher.
4. Provides individualized instruction.
5. Demonstrates various instructional activities.
6. Prepares visual aids and instructional materials.
7. Assesses student work as instructed by teacher.
8. Assists in recording student behavior, progress, and other related data.
9. Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students in all areas of the school environment.
10. Distributes and collects instructional materials.
11. Assists students with digital age learning in the classroom.
12. Encourages and supports academic growth of students.
13. Models and promotes high level of ethical and appropriate behavior.
14. Assists with the needs of all students to include exceptional students.
15. Performs other related duties, as required or assigned by supervisor.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking, including repetitive motions.
• Ability to stand in excess of 6 hours.
• Ability to lift 15-30 pounds routinely and 30-100 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills.
• Must be able to visually, auditorily, and physically monitor student performance and conduct.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

NATURE OF WORK: 
Under general supervision assists teachers and therapists in daily classroom activities with the care and education of children with mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. 7. Assembles, adjusts, and maintains equipment used in instructional programs.
8. Assists therapists and other specialists.
9. Assists in recording student behavior, progress, and other related data.
10. Performs various clerical duties, as needed: maintains records of student progress; develops and files incident reports; grades student papers and scores tests; checks daily attendance; makes copies; develops classroom displays and instructional materials; operates audiovisual equipment.
11. Implements established educational programs; administers and scores tests.
12. Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students in all areas of the school environment.
13. Assists students with digital age learning in the classroom.
14. Encourages and supports academic growth of students.
15. Models and promotes high level of ethical and appropriate behavior.
16. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips; monitors students during lunch, recess, specials, hygiene routines and snack time; if applicable, serves as bus monitor.
