DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Wilkinson Middle School Softball Coach. This position is responsible for developing student-athletes, teaching fundamental softball skills, and fostering a positive and encouraging team environment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Previous coaching or playing experience preferred
• Strong understanding of softball fundamentals and team development
• Ability to positively motivate and mentor middle school student-athletes
• Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• CPR/First Aid certification 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and conduct structured practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Instruct student-athletes in softball techniques, game strategies, and conditioning.
• Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that promotes personal growth and a love for the sport.
• Promote academic success and encourage student-athletes to meet eligibility requirements.
• Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate improvement.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, and administration.
• Collaborate with school administrators, parents, and other coaches to ensure the overall success of the softball program.
• Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, promoting academic excellence and character development.
• Supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and field conditions in collaboration with the athletic department.
• Ensure compliance with all school, league, and state regulations governing high school athletics.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
