    • Full-Time Position – 1.0 FTE

     DESCRIPTION: Berkley High School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join our student support team. Our high school includes specialized programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Cognitive Impairments (CI),   and serves a diverse population of students with IEPs as well as those in general education.

     

     The School Social Worker will provide comprehensive social work services to families, students, and school staff, addressing barriers that limit a student from receiving the full benefit of their educational experience. The social worker will respond to referrals from school   administration, families, teachers, the Student Support Team, and others by providing direct services and assisting families in accessing appropriate school and community resources.
     

     

      QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    1. Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.

    2. Full or temporary School Social Worker license through the Michigan Department of Education.

    3. Experience working with high school-aged students; familiarity with ASD and CI supports preferred.

    4. Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.

    5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    6. Experience facilitating the IEP process.

    7. Experience participating in the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team process.

    8. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents.

     

     
     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    1. Collaborate with families, educational staff and community agencies to coordinate programs and services for students, including active participation in the MTSS process.

    2. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments. Write and implement corresponding Behavior Support Plans.

    3. Maintain accurate and confidential records.

    4. Foster students' personal, social, and life planning skills.

    5. Provide individual and small group instructional support to students in areas such as executive functioning, emotional regulation, peer interactions and resilience.

    6. Develop and reinforce Positive Behavior Intervention Supports.

    7. Provide information, referral, and follow-up to parents and students for community agencies and resources.
