     Kids’ Zone Assistant Teacher

     

     LOCATION: Angell, Pattengill or Rogers Elementary School

     

     SALARY: Hourly; $15.15-$17.07/hour 

     

     HOURS: 3:00- 5:30 PM 

     POSITION OBJECTIVE:

     

     Under the direction of the Supervisor of Kids’ Zone and the lead site teacher, the caregiver will be responsible for assisting the Kids Zone site teacher in the general supervision and management of the program, as well as implementing the program's   daily activities. The caregiver is responsible for assisting in the child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

     

     
      ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

     
    • Must be 18 years of age.

    • Meet the requirements set forth by the licensing agency.

    • Documentation of a physical examination including a TB test is mandatory within 30 days of starting work, and thereafter, as required.

    • I-Chat and Central Registry Clearance verification must be completed prior to start date.

    • CPR and First Aid Certification is required within 60 days of start date and renewed every two years.

    • Completion of eight hours of MiRegistry training prior to start date.

     


      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    • Implement the daily lesson plan with fidelity and integrity.

    • Assist in general overall classroom management.

    • React kindly and firmly in a positive manner when disciplining children.

    • Direct children indoors and outdoors.

    • Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.

    • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up learning activities, and preparing needed materials and supplies.

    • Monitor the quantity, quality, appearance, maintenance and storage of all supplies and equipment needed for the program.

    • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all co-workers and parents.

    • Attend all staff meetings that are required.

    • Adhere to all licensing regulations in accordance with state laws and requirements.

    • Follow all safety, blood borne and child abuse prevention guidelines.

    • Continue professional development through community involvement, professional reading, workshops and seminars or formal education for 24 hours of training.

    • Maintain the appropriate staff-to-child ratios.

    • Must interface with the classroom teacher and other assistant teachers to make the classroom climate a positive one.

    • Welcome parents and children each day by name.

    • Assume equal and shared responsibility for general housekeeping tasks.

    • Communicate with other staff on a regular basis regarding the care of the children.

    • Exhibit excellent attendance.

    • Be able to repeatedly get up from the floor
