Substitute Custodian/Cleaner
Reports To: Facility Supervisor and Head Custodian
Takes Direction From: Facility Supervisor, Head Custodian, and Shift Leader
Schedule/Calendar: Maximum of 5 - 8 hours per day; maximum 25 hours per week +; 182 days per year
Salary: $19.00/hr. + $0.25/hr. Shift Differential - New Rate
Summary: The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established districtpolicies and standards. A custodian must maintain all assigned building(s) in a state of operationalexcellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstaclesto the education program.
Essential Functions:
- Performs inside and outside cleaning and sanitizing services as assigned
- Performs restoration of resilient and hard surface floors (stripping, wet vacuuming, rinsing, sealing, waxing, buffing, polishing) as directed
- Cleans carpeting (spot removal and shampooing)
- Provides setups for banquets, concerts, band, health fairs, athletic contests, community education activities, conferences, meetings, and other events, as directed
- Performs snow and ice removal tasks as needed and directed
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Education and/or Certification Required:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
Experience Needed:
- Previous custodial experience preferred
Requisite Skills:
- Physical ability to perform tasks described above on a routine basis
- Ability to work well with people
- Ability to understand and follow simple written or oral instructions
- Ability to work standing/walking for long periods of time
- Ability to work alone
- Ability to lift, push, pull, twist, stand, raise arms above shoulders, stoop to floor, climb ladders and stairs
