Title: General Maintenance Technician - Northfield Campus
Occupational Group: PPS Custodial
Assignment/Hours: 12-month; Tuesday - Saturday: 12:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Supervisor: Northfield Facilities Manager
Compensation: $24.02/hour
Position Outcomes:
To provide a safe and well-maintained physical plant; protect assets of the district, working with the district’s employees and contractors.
General Responsibilities:
This work entails specific skills involved with building and maintenance of the district physical plant, including but not limited to pool operations, carpentry, general maintenance, and locksmithing. There is contact with students, staff, and outside contractors. An employee in this position works within clearly established systems and procedures.
Qualifications:
Experience using hand and power tools.
Pool operator’s license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Skills and Knowledge:
General knowledge of wiring and grounding.
Knowledge of safe work practices including Lock Out Tag Out, Ladder Safety, Fall Protection, Safety Data Sheets, Personal Protective Equipment, Confined Spaces, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Asbestos Awareness, and Aerial Work Platforms.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to regularly lift and handle items weightling at least 50 pounds, occasionally more.
Physical ability to perform all essential duties requiring bending, walking, standing, carrying, reaching, moving items, climbing stairs or ladders, kneeling, and lifting.
Ability to work independently.
Position Expectations:
Performs general repairs on building structures such as masonry, caulking, plumbing, doors and door hardware.
Acts as building locksmith.
Performs all aspects of pool operations.
Installs floors and ceilings.
Installs materials such as pictures, marker boards or other fixtures.
Repairs and assembles lockers, desks, chairs, office furniture, and other types of equipment.
Works with contractors.

Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
