JOB GOAL:
 
• Instruct athletes in skills, strategy, and physical training for individual and team success.
• Promote character development, discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship.
• Continuously improve knowledge through clinics and professional development.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
General:
 
• Understand and implement all district, state, and KHSAA policies and procedures.
• Maintain professionalism and promote good sportsmanship and mental well-being.
• Lead and manage fundraising efforts to support program growth and sustainability.
 
Staff Responsibilities:
 
• Establish program philosophy, skills, and techniques for staff.
• Encourage staff development through clinics and meetings.
• Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches.
• Maintain discipline and resolve grievances.
 
Administrative Duties:
 
• Assist in scheduling, transportation, and event preparation.
• Ensure adherence to facility schedules and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accurate documentation for physicals, eligibility, and equipment.
• Provide recommendations for program improvements to the Athletic Director.
• Oversee and build the entire Newport Volleyball program from elementary through varsity, ensuring alignment and development across all levels.
 
Student Responsibilities:
 
• Mentor student-athletes on character, academics, and behavior.
• Ensure player safety and provide clear program expectations.
• Manage discipline issues and communicate with parents as needed.
 
Finance and Equipment:
 
• Assist in budgeting and equipment planning.
• Maintain accurate inventory and ensure proper care of equipment and facilities.
 
Public Relations:
 
• Promote the volleyball program within the school and community.
• Communicate with local media and promote team successes.
• Organize and lead preseason meetings with parents, players, and staff.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
• Ability to organize and supervise a total volleyball program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in volleyball.
• Knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and willingness to continue learning.
• Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
• ?Ability to organize and execute fundraising initiatives to support program needs.
 
SUPERVISES:
 
• Assistant and middle school coaches, in coordination with the Athletic Director and Principal.

• Athletic Director
