    About Shrewsbury
The Town of Shrewsbury is a thriving suburban community of 38,000 people in Central Massachusetts.  It is adjacent to Worcester and 45 minutes west of Boston.  Shrewsbury has a tradition of strong municipal services and excellent public schools with exceptionally stable leadership. The school district consists of nine schools, with over 1,000 staff serving 5,900 students housed in a preschool; five Grade K-4 elementary schools (one opened in 2021); one Grade 5-6 middle school (new in 2013) and one Grade 7-8 middle school on the same campus; and one Grade 9-12 high school.  The community has provided significant financial support for multiple new and renovated school buildings over the past 25 years, and over the past decade, has held two successful override votes to provide additional property tax revenue for municipal and school operations.  The School Department manages a town-appropriated operating budget of $79.3 million along with another $10+ million in grants and revolving fund accounts.
