Job Goal:
Facilitate student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promote the use of appropriate study strategies. Tutors conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one and group tutoring sessions throughout the school year as needed.
 
Qualifications
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Earned an A or A- in courses that you will tutor (B+ in certain circumstances)
• Two faculty recommendations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.
• Assist students with specific course-related concepts and problems
• Actively engage students by asking questions that will facilitate their understanding
• Encourage students to improve their study methods
• Provide feedback to students, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence
• Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
• Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies
• Provide private instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance or prepare for academic tests
• Maintain a professional attitude and helpful demeanor
• Arrive on time for scheduled sessions
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hours:  Vary by season and department
Rate:  $12.50/hr
FLSA Status:  Non-exempt (Time-carded)
Start Date:  November 1, 2022
