Director of School Counseling - Administrative Position BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the administration, directs and coordinates the school counseling program. Consults and collaborates with teachers, parents, and staff to increase student achievement, behavior, motivation and academic learning. Provides all students equitable access to a quality, developmentally appropriate and comprehensive guidance counseling program focused on academic success, personal and social development and career and college guidance. Delivery of these services may include individual and group activities as well as classroom and assembly participation. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. Essential Functions: Evaluate, recruit, and retain student-centered School Counselors who embody the motto of Lawrence North High School “Achieving Excellence, Building Character, and Serving Others.” Provides leadership for the counseling and guidance program and represents counseling and guidance at the administrative team level at Lawrence North High School. Develops, plans, implements, promotes, and evaluates a comprehensive developmental counseling and guidance program based on the State and National Standards for school counselors; consistently reviews and modifies the school counseling program to best fit the needs of the school and the students. Actively utilizes a variety of data to evaluate the needs of the school and of the individual students, forming a strategic plan for a comprehensive counseling and guidance program. Oversight of curricular programs including but not limited to - International Baccalaureate, AP Capstone, Indiana College Core, and Advance College Project. Creates the curriculum guide for Lawrence North families to navigate all of the course offerings at the school. Plans, communicates, and facilitates structured lessons to deliver the guidance curriculum effectively and in accordance with students’ developmental needs. Example - weekly communication to all Lawrence North stakeholders through a newsletter. Plans, monitors and manages students’ educational development, career development and personal/social development. Communicates and involves parents in the process. Provides structured, goal-oriented prevention, intervention and responsive services to meet the identified needs of individuals or groups of students regarding academic, career, and person/social issues. Acts as a resource for teachers, such as consulting on the solution of classroom behavior problems and conducting professional development programs for school staff; provides opportunities for parent educational programs as well. Collaborates and coordinates with school system specialists and community-based resources in order to refer students and their families to appropriate specialists, programs, or outside agencies. Works directly with the Assistant Principal on State Assessments and the administration of these tests. Facilitates a continuing program of site based training and professional growth for counselors. Advises counselors in setting school wide counseling objectives and parameters. Oversees and maintains school counseling records, files, counseling libraries, college catalogues, etc. Coordinates the site and feeder school articulation process and program. Serves as liaison between district; elementary, middle, and high schools; or parent information in matter of transition. Serves as liaison to post-secondary institutions with college information, evaluation and application. Coordinates all visitation of counseling teams or College Admissions Officers. Including but not limited to College/Job Fairs for our community. Takes all necessary precautions to protect the integrity and safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Serves on district committees that enhance counseling and guidance. Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Seeking middle school language arts teacher with secondary licensure for the 2024/2025 school year. The successful candidate will teach content and skills in language arts, literature, composition, and reading to middle school students while utilizing curriculum designated by the state of Indiana.

Essential Job Functions

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Functions
Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the c school system.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.

Qualifications Profile
Indiana State Certification as an Special Education Teacher (Mild, Moderate, or Intensive Intervention)
Education
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Masters Degree in related area preferred.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
