AVAILABLE: Full-time EduStaff Special Education Substitute Teacher position available in the Southwest Region (Bedford Public, Ida Public, Mason and Whiteford Agricultural Schools grades K-12) for the 2024-25 school year. Work schedule based on district calendar. Hours and schedule determined at time of assignment.

Summary of EduStaff Designated Substitute Teacher Position: This is an EduStaff sub teacher position. The sub teacher will be guaranteed work each school day except the day before and after a holiday and on the last day of school. The sub teacher will be automatically assigned to the first opening, teacher or aide position, in his/her designated region; however, the substitute teacher may be moved to a different region/program depending on each region’s/program's needs. It will be the sub teacher’s responsibility to monitor the Red Rover system for his/her daily jobs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Report to the school office upon arrival, check out at end of the day.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times specified.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records of the day.
- Plan, supervise and provide guidance for student(s), teacher aide(s), and volunteer(s).
- Assist students with any help they may need with their work.
- Tidy up the classroom after the day has commenced.
- Follow lesson plans, make notations.
- Be prepared to assist in other classrooms during prep hour or breaks.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Ability to discipline students when necessary following the policies.
- Be aware of any school policy and procedures regarding lock downs, fire drills, etc.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways.
- Perform other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted positions.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Completion of 60 semester hours of satisfactory credit consolidated at one-year regionally accredited college, community college or university.
- Must complete an orientation session with EduStaff, which outlines specific expectations for the special classification of substitutes.
- Must be able to obtain a Substitute Teacher Permit from the State of Michigan, if you do not hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Complete the required training modules.
- Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must meet criminal history background requirements (requires Michigan and FBI fingerprint and SOARS clearance. The processing fee is the responsibility of the substitute teacher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Two or more years of K-12 teaching experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the Substitute Teacher is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The Substitute Teacher frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The Substitute Teacher is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The Substitute Teacher is frequently required to bend at the neck more than the average person. The Substitute Teacher must regularly lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and peripheral vision. The Substitute Teacher needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment. Occasionally will assist in physical management of students.
