Substitute Child Nutrition Worker Position Purpose Work under direct supervision of the Cafeteria Manager/Director to prepare and serve appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety practices.
Essential Job Functions - Prepare quality food according to a planned menu.
- Serve food according to meal schedules, procedures, and practices.
- Store and handle food items and supplies safely according to established procedures.
Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
- Ability to understand written and verbal food preparation and safety instructions.
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Safety and Sanitation - Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.
- Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards - Ability to work with standard large and small kitchen equipment and tools.
- Prolonged standing, frequent kneeling, and bending.
- Frequent moderate lifting and carrying(15-44 pounds).
- Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
