Substitute Custodian Position Purpose Under the direct supervision of the campus Administrator, to maintain school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, safe and operable condition.
Essential Job Functions - Follow cleaning schedules
- Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
- Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash
- Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal as needed.
- Assist in setting up facilities for special events as needed.
Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Safety Requirements - Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards - Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.
- Typical risks associated with using tools of the trade.
- Occasional strenuous physical work.
- Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Qualifications Profile Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Successful experience in building and grounds maintenance, repair and custodial duties
