    Direct Supervisor: Director of Human Resources
    Classification: Non-exempt
    Location: District Office - Front Office
    Salary Schedule:  District Office - Non Exempt - Receptionist (range $18.00 - $22.00, based on related experience)
    Work Calendar: 220-242 days; Friday's off in the summer, Typical schedule 7:45 am - 4:15 pm.

    Definition:
    Montrose County School District is seeking a professional, organized, and friendly Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and students at the District Office. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a welcoming demeanor, and the ability to manage a variety of administrative tasks efficiently. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office and providing a positive experience for all who interact with the district.

    Essential Duties:
    • Front Desk Management: Greet and welcome visitors, staff, and students as they enter the district office. Ensure all guests sign in and are directed to the appropriate person or department.
    • Phone and Email Communication: Answer, screen, and direct phone calls and emails to the appropriate personnel or department. Provide information and assistance as needed.
    • Administrative Support: Assist with various department administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, photocopying, and coordination.
    • Visitor Coordination/Record Keeping: Maintain visitor logs and ensure that all visitors comply with security protocols, including use of district software program(s). 
    • Crisis Management: Follow established procedures for emergency situations, including lockdowns, fire drills, and other critical incidents.
      • Part of the district wide security response team as needed.
    • Document Management: Assist with the preparation, organization, and distribution of the department communications, newsletters, and reports.
    • Event Coordination: Provide support for department and district events, including scheduling, setup, and coordination of materials and refreshments.
    • All other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or an associate degree preferred. 
    • Experience: Previous experience in a receptionist, administrative assistant, or similar role preferred. Experience in an educational setting is a plus.
    • Skills:
      • Professional, welcoming, calm demeanor.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
        • Bi-lingual Spanish (highly preferred)
      • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google, and basic office equipment.
        • Ability to learn software programs quickly
      • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
      • Effectively and efficiently operate multi line telephone.
      • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
      • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
     Physical Requirements:
    The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.  
    • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
    • This type of work involves sitting, walking, and/or standing.   
    • Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
    • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
