Job Title: Coordinator of College and Career Readiness Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Coordinator of College and Career Readiness to lead our efforts in preparing high school students for successful transitions to post-secondary education and the workforce. The ideal candidate will be passionate about guiding students through the college exploration process, facilitating career development opportunities, and fostering partnerships with colleges, universities, and local businesses.This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students as they navigate their post-secondary options and pursue their career aspirations. If you are passionate about empowering students to achieve their full potential, we encourage you to apply. This position will require working hours during the evening and on weekends.
Employee Status:
Certified 10-month REA (including an additional 10 days).
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive college and career readiness programs (CCRE), initiatives, and resources to support students in their post-secondary aspirations (PaCE).
2. Oversee and coordinate with counselors, administrators and staff the implementation of the identified academic and career platform.
3. Organize and facilitate college nights to provide students and families with information about the college application process, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.
4. Coordinate college tours and visits to give students first hand exposure to various college campuses, academic programs, and campus life experiences.
5. Lead efforts to assist students in building resumes, writing college essays, and preparing for college admissions tests such as the AP and ACT.
6. Plan and execute career days and career fairs to expose students to a wide range of career pathways, industries, and job opportunities.
7. Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and administrators to integrate college and career readiness into the curriculum and student support services.
8. Establish and maintain partnerships with colleges, universities, trade schools, and businesses to provide students with internships, job shadowing opportunities, and mentorship programs.
9. Stay current on trends and developments in higher education, workforce development, and career readiness practices.
10.Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of college and career readiness initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
11. Serve as a resource and advocate for students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic, career, and personal goals.
12.Serve as a disciplinary interventionist and the alternative learning coordinator.
Qualifications:
* Illinois Professional Educator Licence required (Type-73 endorsement preferred)
* Experience working in college admissions, career counseling, or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of college application processes, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students, families, and stakeholders.
* Proven organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, school staff, college representatives, and community partners.
* Familiarity with college and career readiness resources, tools, and technology platforms.
* Be willing to earn a Work Based Learning Endorsement
