ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Proper certification as required by the Mississippi Educator Licensure Department.
2. A minimum of five years of experience in the field of public education, including experience as a classroom teacher preferred.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To relieve the principal of such impediments as to prevent him/her from fulfilling his/her chief responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
2. Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
3. Direct textbook and supplies distribution and inventory.
4. Assist in the preparation of teacher handbooks.
5. Work with the principal in the preparation of the student handbook.
6. Supervise extracurricular activities.
7. Assist in the preparation of student schedules.
8. Assist in the requisition of supplies and equipment, conducting inventories, maintaining records, and checking on receipts for such material.
9. Cooperate in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill activities.
10. Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and work with the district attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions.
11. Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deal with special cases as necessary.
12. Serve with parent, faculty and student groups as requested.
13. Assist in staff supervision and evaluation.
14. Assist in supervision of the janitorial staff.
15. Assist in the preparation of all reports.
16. Perform such other duties as assigned by the Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
