Special Education Teacher – Self-Contained ABA Elementary Classroom
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Provisional/Professional Educator Certificate (Special Education Endorsement Required)
REPORTS TO:
Principal/Assistant Principal, Special Education Supervisor, Director of Student Supports and Interventions
Position Summary:
The self-contained special education teacher is responsible for providing structured instruction to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disabilities. The teacher will lead a classroom team including paraprofessionals and behavior technicians, ensuring students access individualized instruction while being integrated into general education settings in accordance with their IEPs.?
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning & Delivery
Develop and implement individualized instruction.?
Create and maintain a structured classroom environment with visual supports and routines.?
Utilize discrete trial teaching and ABA principles as needed.?
Schedule and monitor student participation in general education settings per IEPs.?
Team Leadership & Adult Supervision
Supervise and schedule classroom paraprofessionals and behavior technicians.?
Provide modeling, coaching, and feedback to support instructional consistency.?
Maintain a collaborative, professional classroom culture.?
Assessment & Case Management
Fulfill case management responsibilities, including progress monitoring and IEP compliance.?
Conduct evaluations, write reports, and maintain documentation in CT-SEDS.?
Collect and analyze student data to guide instructional and behavioral decision-making.?
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.?
Collaborate with related service providers, BCBAs, and general education staff.?
Participate actively in PPT meetings and contribute to IEP development.?
