IN AND OUT OF DISTRICT

POSITION:
Primary responsibility is to assist the JCDC Instructor in the planning, supervision, and direction of children during center hours.  Hours vary between 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, based on established program shifts. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.  Demonstrates warmth, concern, caring, enthusiasm, and a nurturing attitude, as well as a genuine 
     interest in children.
2.  Exhibits flexibility and patience when dealing with students and staff.
3.  Can accept teacher direction and performance evaluation.
4.  Maintains confidentiality of information concerning students and program.
5.  Is punctual and has regular attendance.
6.  Exhibits appropriate dress and appearance in keeping with the school environment.
7.  Can work independently within the guidelines established by the teacher and administrator.
8.  Must be able to feed children, participate in floor play and maintain individual daily record sheets.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1.  Childcare classes; completed or in-progress.
2.  Has evidence of successful experiences working with children.
3.  High school diploma or GED certificate.
4.  Must be 18 years of age or older.
5.  Must be able to lift to 30 pounds.

PROCEDURES:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is an hourly position.  Wages start at $10.00/hour.

POSITION
 
Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Child Development Assistant (CDA) who will be able to assist the Instructor in the planning, supervision and direction of children during center hours. 
 
Hours vary between 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, M-F.  Multiple positions to start in the 2024-2025 school year. 
 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Administration in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications.
 
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Has completed child care classes or is currently enrolled
• Has earned a high school diploma or equivalence
• Demonstrates warmth, concern, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in young children
 
• Exhibits interest and support in educational programs
• Can establish positive rapport with children and interact in a mature and appropriate manner with adults
• Is able to develop the understanding of individual needs of students and gauges expectations appropriately
• Exhibits flexibility and patience when dealing with children and adults
• Is able to accept direction and performance evaluation
• Maintains confidentiality of information concerning students and program
• Demonstrates tact when discussing student related or staff related problems
• Exhibits appropriate dress and appearance in keeping with the school environment
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds
 
 
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
• Exhibits a commitment to the District’s Shared Vision and Collective Commitments
• Creates a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture
• Supports the plans and implementation of a variety of developmentally appropriate classroom activities in a safe and nurturing environment
• Takes direction from the instructor to assist with classroom activities
• Follows LPS Policies and Procedures and State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Programs
• Initiates and maintains positive relationships with program families and LPS personnel
• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors
 
PROCEDURES:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
 
The Child Development Assistant will work when the program is in operation.  This is an hourly position.  Rate of pay will be $15.00 per hour  This position will remain open until filled.
