CUSTODIAN (MON - FRI) 8 HOURS, ALL SHIFTS
MULTIPLE POSITIONS

Applicants should be experienced in all phases of custodial duties and responsibilities;
An excellent attendance record and an outstanding attitude are essential.  Applicants will be expected to perform such tasks as:
• Floor sweeping
• Floor stripping and refinishing
• Disinfecting in accordance with health and safety requirements
• Painting
• Changing lights
• Changing ceiling tiles
• Washing windows, etc. 
Applicants should possess a basic knowledge of building mechanical equipment and have some general mechanical aptitude.  Applicants must be able to work effectively with others to meet the building standards set forth by the Administrator of Facilities/Operations.
 

SELECTION GUIDELINES FOR EXPECTED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ABOVE POSITION:
 
1. An attendance record acceptable to administration.
2. A high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Human relation skills with students, staff and general public.
4. A successful employment history with Livonia Public Schools.
 
Because of the nature of this work, a spirit of cooperation with all others including members of the general public and school community, is essential.
 
Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the agreement between the Livonia Public School District and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO Local 118, Council 25.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
Primary responsibility is to assist the SACC Instructor in maintaining a safe, nurturing and enriching environment for children. Hours are M-F from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
1.    Demonstrates warmth, concern, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in young children
2.    Exhibits interest and support in educational programs.
3.    Can establish positive rapport with children and interact in a mature and appropriate manner with adults.
4.     Is able to develop the understanding of individual needs of students and gauges expectations appropriately.
5.     Exhibits flexibility and patience when dealing with children and adults.
6.     Is able to accept direction and performance evaluation.
7.     Maintains confidentiality of information concerning students and program.
8.     Demonstrates tact when discussing student related or staff related problems.
9.     Exhibits appropriate dress and appearance in keeping with the school environment.
10.   Is able to work independently within the guidelines established by the instructor and administration.
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Specific details involved in the position will be discussed with the administrator during the interview and at the time of hiring for the position.  Wage begins at $15.00/hour.
