As a Teacher Assistant at the LIU, this position is vital in supporting students' educational experience, assisting teachers in implementing instructional plans and contributing to the overall positive learning environment. Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Must have or obtain and maintain a current certificate in first aid
• Must have or obtain and maintain a current certificate in CPR
• Must have or obtain and maintain certificate in LIU-approved crisis management and intervention program, preferred
• Relevant experience working with students in an educational setting
• Patience, flexibility, and positive attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff
• Must complete twenty (20) hours of professional development related to assignment each year (July 1– June 30) to continue employment.
• Must obtain "qualified" status within one (1) year from date of hire
  • "Qualified" means meeting a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a local or state assessment
    • Certificate of Competency – free of cost and can be acquired on the job OR 
    • CAPE test 
  • OR having an associate's degree or higher
  • OR having completed 2 years (48 credits) of postsecondary study.

Terms of Employment: Full-time, 7 hours/day, (position ending 05-27-2026). 

Salary: $18.45/hr
