Position Title: General Maintenance
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Director of Maintenance
SUMMARY: To help maintain the school district’s facilities and grounds in a condition of operating excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Other duties may be assigned. Duties and responsibilities may include:
- Performs general maintenance work and new construction inside and outside the physical plant such as maintenance to ceiling, roof, windows, electrical, plumbing, concrete, masonry, glazing, insulation, tile and pump and fan repairs, and heating systems.
- Performs districtwide grounds maintenance work such as plowing, salting, field marking, mowing, moving, and maintenance of underground sprinkler systems.
- Repairs playground equipment and fencing.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises lesser skilled and temporary employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and experience in one or more of the building trades. Experience in working with and a knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC,
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Language skills required for this job may include:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with employees of the district.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Mathematical skills required at all levels include:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Reasoning ability may include:
- Ability to solve practical problems involving several variables in various situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Other skills and abilities essential and required for this job may include:
- Ability to pass a physical test.
- Required to possess a valid driver’s license.

- Occasionally required to work at heights to 30 feet.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally may be loud.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND EVALUATION: Terms of employment and evaluation for this job will include:
- A twelve-month school year contract, for either full-time or part-time employment, based on job need.
- Salary and fringe benefits to be determined by the Board of Education as indicated on the adopted Maintenance Salary Schedule.
- An annual performance evaluation to be completed by the Maintenance Director.
