    HEAD COOK
    General Duties:
    This position is in charge of the daily operation of the middle school cafeteria and all related activities. These
    activities include preparing and serving food, cleaning and sanitizing cafeteria spaces, cashiering, ordering and
    inventorying supplies, record keeping, communicating with school and district stakeholders, coordinating and
    supervising food service team members, and other assigned duties. The holder of this position is expected to
    create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for students and staff being served; while maintaining a safe, positive, and
    productive work environment.

    Qualifications:
    • Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and vendors
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
    • Ability to be enthusiastic, friendly, flexible, and a team player
    • Ability to learn and consistently apply district and school policies and procedures
    • Experience and knowledge in food service preparation, sanitation, and food service equipment
    • Ability to take inventory and order supplies as well as keep accurate records of food production, cash receipts, and related information
    • Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
    • Ability to lead the daily food service operations at the middle school cafeteria and all related activities
    • Willingness and ability to obtain ServSafe Certification
    • Self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to collaborate with Grand Rapids Public School Food Service Department on menu creation, reporting, and food service program implementation and improvements
    • Ability to operate a cash register and complete necessary technology tasks
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds
    • Ability to bend, squat, climb, and reach
    • Excellent attendance record

    Hours: Approximately 8 hours/day, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday - Friday (on full school days)
    Location: East Grand Rapids Middle School
    Start Date: As mutually agreed upon
    Compensation: Per the Support Staff Contract, Food Service Classification, Head Cook
