    SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST (PK-12 Special Education)
    (1.0 FTE) (2 OPEN POSITIONS)

     

     

    Qualifications:
    • Current and valid school psychologist certificate from the Michigan Department of Education
    • Ability to lead and perform special education evaluations within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education, and Kent ISD guidelines
    • Ability to administer and interpret a wide variety of assessments for the evaluation of students in the areas of Specific Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairments, Emotional Impairments, Other Health Impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders
    • Ability to support the whole child through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports with the foundational belief of Least Restrictive Environment
    • Ability to write and complete special education evaluation reports, Individualized Education Program plans (including PLAAFP statements), Functional Behavior Assessments, and Positive Behavior Support Plans
    • Knowledge or willingness to be trained in the Child Study/Student Assistance Team process, Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, Section 504, and Suicide/Crisis Protocol
    • Strong problem-solving skills and extensive knowledge relevant to accommodations, modifications, and evidence/research-based strategies and interventions
    • Knowledge of trauma, anxiety, and depression and how these issues can impact students of all ages within and beyond the educational setting
    • Willingness and commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
    • Training in, or willingness to be trained in, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention - Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
    • Ability to be enthusiastic, flexible, and to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, clinicians, and community agencies
    • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
    • Proficiency with technology, data collection, and documentation
    • Willingness to abide by all district policies and procedures while maintaining and promoting confidentiality throughout the work environment

    Rate: Per Contract Salary Schedule
